More like a crianza than a reserva. Good for easy drinking with nibbles although im sure it would match bold tomato or meaty flavours nicely too. Very unique wine. Similar characteristics to Nebbiolo. Beautiful color from the age reflecting a very earthy earthy full-bodied wine. The initial nose also has tar, wet soil and cassis. Needs half a day (at least) to open up. The flavor has cherry, raspberry, tobacco and beef-like flavor. Great smoky finish. Very different for me — 8 years ago

Wow......fantastic bottle,, but still has room to grow! Had a bunch of tannins yet, and showed lots of earth, exhibiting some wonderful fruits but not fully developed at its open, but a half hour later was just luscious. Have more, and glad I do! — 9 years ago

This is quite a complex wine. Give it some time to breathe and it will reward you for that. Doesn't need any more time to age, if anything drink it soon. I didn't have another to compare it to, but it may be just past it's prime. Primary flavours: Tobacco, stewed plum, dried sour cherry. Secondaries: leather, smoke, white pepper, vanilla. Tertiaries: green capsicum, spearmint. Full body, long finish, very intense, very complex, many levels of expression.

Whoa, I don't think the current ratings do this one any justice. Jammy on the nose. Oak, blackberry, black cherry, pepper and spice. Once this warms up it turns into a pleasant wine with a full body finish that's quite tannic with sufficient acidity. I'd definitely drink this again. — 11 years ago
