On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the youths (mostly college)! Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading one operatic work from WAGNER (Die Walküre, Act II & III). This is our WAGNER weekend with the BSO, Act I was performed last night.
Still in love with the beautiful golden color of this wine!
The nose has light petrol, baked green apple, honey and mashed, ripe apricot. The palate is mouth-filling, apricot jam with honey, baked green apple, slate drizzled with honey, and possibly a hint of white flowers. Finish is so long and awesome.
These bottles are still continuing to improve, could easily see 2027-32+ — 6 years ago
Pretty delicious moscato. Sweet but not overly sweet. 12.5% by VOL. — 6 years ago
Our first Ft. Ross! Over ripe rasberry and oak chips, delicious! Enjoyed along side wonderful the wonderful company of Carla and husband Jamie this afternoon at the Tanglewood season finale, Beethoven's 9th, a stunning work of strings and chorus, makes the hair on my arms stand up, so amazing! — 7 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading just one wonderful piece, MAHLER (Symphony No. 3), accompanied with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.
We're revisiting some producer bottles from our late Spring France vacation earlier this year.
Pinot Noir biased on the nose and palate. Chalky limestone notes persist on the nose, followed by red fruits grated into the same mineral. Palate has bright red fruits with mineral dust, medium finish. Not as good as getting to enjoy it in the private tasting room at the Taittinger cellar, but close tonight.
Photos of one of the Comtes cellar areas, Methuselah's of Brut Reserve where some enthusiast has expressed their love of that wine and our bottle of the evening. — 7 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor David Newman is leading a live-to-picture performance of Leonard Bernstein’s score for “West Side Story”, originally directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, and with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
For live-to-picture productions, the orchestra performs the entire movie score in real time as the film unspools. (Vocals, dialogue and effects are isolated from the original music track.) The BSO installed very fancy and large LED screens on the perimeter of the Shed facing the Lawn, amazing!
Sparkling strawberry juice! So fun, love this wine. Please see my prior notes. — 7 years ago

After having the 2011 for lunch we decided to pull this out of starve and pop it at Tanglewood while watching the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
This 2000 was great, mellowed tannin but still a backbone with a rose nose. — 8 years ago
WSJ Wine - easy drinking, smooth. Enjoying at James Taylor concert at Tanglewood Lenox MA. Happy July 4th! — 8 years ago
Tanglewood Lawn, spectacular weather, Pincus Zuckerman w/Boston Symphony Orchestra & yummy Morgan. Doesn't get better! — 10 years ago

Nose has cold red raspberry, green melon peel, sliced red cherry and mashed yellow cherry. Palate has red raspberry jam (light), under-ripe red cherry, minor limestone and fresh orange peel. Would like to try this again with 2-3 years age. — 6 years ago

Creamy oak, yellow melon, mineral dust, pineapple core, tropical fruit, delicious! Oh 2016, how I love thee in Burgundy! — 6 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading BEETHOVEN (Symphony No. 4), HK GRUBER (Aerial, Concerto for trumpet and orchestra) with the amazing Håkan Hardenberger as the trumpet soloist and then STRAUSS (“Dance of the Seven Veils” from Salome). Andris and Håkan happen to be friends, and both are trumpet players, I expect to see some playful nature to their interaction this afternoon. Mr. Hardenberger is a world renowned and virtuousic player, we're always glad to hear him, this will be his 4th Tanglewood appearance in 5 years. We expect various mutes to be employed over the work, a cow horn (yes it is want you think) and then finishing with piccolo trumpet, exciting to have a soloist work multiple instruments over his appearance
Nose has strawberry-banana smoothie, light crushed red raspberry and freshly washed cherry.
Palate has red currant, red raspberry, slight grassy note and faint wet sandstone.
Exciting to get back to this bottle. Our last experience was directly off tank (Fall '18) which was tapped by Morten for us, very cloudy then, but flavors were beginning to come together. 100% Pinot Noir. — 6 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our full cast of conductors include Andris Nelsons, Christoph Eschenbach, Keith Lockhart, Michael Tilson Thomas and John Williams. The beautiful and vocally talented Audra McDonald is our host for the evening along with Midori on violin and Yo-Yo Ma on cello.
This will likely be an evening to remember for some time. Program notes from the BSO "Reflecting the season-long theme, The Bernstein Centennial Celebration at Tanglewood will spotlight Bernstein's wide-ranging talents as a composer, his many gifts as a great interpreter and champion of other composers, and his role as an inspirer of a new generation of musicians and music lovers across the country and around the globe. The gala concert will feature a kaleidoscopic array of artists and ensembles from the worlds of classical music, film, and Broadway. The entire first half of the program is dedicated to selections from such brilliant Bernstein works as Candide, West Side Story, Mass, and Serenade. Music from the classical canon very dear to Bernstein's heart-selections from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn and music by Copland-plus a new work by John Williams, makes up a good portion of the program's second half; the finale of Mahler's Resurrection Symphony brings the program to a dramatic close."
We're revisiting some producer bottles from our late Spring France vacation earlier this year.
Nose of under-ripe tropical fruits, banana skin, light oak touch. Palate has yummy papaya, under-ripe peach, tangerine and sweet oak.
Photos of the Jadot (Update, Bouchard!) Chateau with its beautiful colored slate roof (to the left of the chateau its the conservatory where we had an epic lunch during our visit and they used to overwinter their citrus trees in here many, many years ago), pictures of the first room of the most amazing library cellar in all of Burgundy (the subsequent rooms are even more amazing) and our bottle of the evening.
24hr Update, sweet oak and fermented tropical fruits just stunning today, last bottle. ☹️
OMG Update: somehow I grabbed pics from our Bouchard visit, argh! The only Jadot thing in the collage is the bottle, so sorry! — 7 years ago

Very strawberry, intense skin color extraction, very nice, in a year, I hope this is where the '16 is now. See my prior notes please. — 7 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood tonight to listen to Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops live score E.T. The Extraterrestrial along with the film tonight.
A little almond and apricot, excellent balance on the sweetness and acidity. A little too cold tonight on the Lawn (57°F), but still half a bottle for follow-up on better climate controlled conditions. — 8 years ago
On the lawn for Tanglewood this evening, Film Night with Andris Nelsons & John Williams, mostly playing scores from JW scored films, Dracula, E.T., Indiana Jones, Close Encounters, Harry Potter and of course Star Wars!
Love this PG rosé, 2015 is the vintage for this producer! — 8 years ago
Saturday night at Tanglewood with the BSO playing Britten, Adès & Beethoven, and Emanuel Ax on piano.
Fruit is decent, not much of a green note from the Merlot, certainly get the Cab. Franc on the nose. Ripe raspberry and smokey, not-too-sweet, stewed red fruit, evolving on the glass finally after two hours. — 8 years ago
Saffron and fresh cut hay on the nose is followed by more of the same on the tongue with a bit of toasted bread and fresh tartness. Picnic on the lawn at Tanglewood in a bottle. — 9 years ago

Consistent notes from our last experience. After having the 2018, we prefer where the 2017 it's drinking at this stage, just a little bit more relaxed.
Round and beautiful on the palate, all stainless in the process so distinct fruit notes. Cold chalk, cherry skin, minor orange zest, green melon, light tannins, very enjoyable strawberry finish, great value as a neighbor to Sancerre for under $15. — 6 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading GERSHWIN (Piano Concerto in F), GERSHWIN (Variations on “I Got Rhythm,” for piano and orchestra) and STRAVINSKY (Petrushka) with the amazing Jean-Yves Thibaude as the piano soloist on the two first works presented today. Jean-Yves is by far among our favorite pianists to grace the Koussevitzky Shed stage, so graceful, yet poignant!
Hot days call for cool wines, today there are some fun ones planned for sharing.
Similar notes from our last bottle.
Savory herbs, beeswax, citrus pith. So wonderful! — 6 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. For Opening Night our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat) with one of our local treasures, Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then MAHLER (Symphony No. 5), a complex master work for which the BSO happens to be quite well practiced.
Prior notes still apply.

Very nice light Salmon color. Nice fruit, 50% Cinsault & 50% Grenache. Very tasty, much better than their still rosé. — 7 years ago
Decanting, bright fruits to be enjoyed here, notes forthcoming...
Bright fresh cherry, light mineral.
Sneaking the remainder of the bottle into the Harry Connick Jr. show at Tanglewood tonight. 🤫
Update: Show was epic, 3rd time seeing him, suggest everyone see him at least once, consummate artist! — 7 years ago

It's been a while since we checked in on this bottle. Tonight the acidity had finally dropped out and left us with the gorgeous reminants of pure Sancerre, yellow peach, covered in limestone dust. F'n WOTN! — 8 years ago
Friday night Tanglewood wine with the BSO playing some Bernstein & Tchaikovsky, Jean-Yves Thibaudet on piano!
So Celebrity Rosé... Two of the most favorite words ever uttered by Lyle Fass.
I always thought this had good Provence fruit (Thank you Perrin's) at a reasonable price. I'm in the dislike camp on the bottle shape, it doesn't fit any place well, except the recycle bin. — 8 years ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our guest conductor, and violin soloist, Leonidas Kavakos is leading an BEETHOVEN (Violin Concerto in D, Opus 61) and then concluding with DVOŘÁK (Symphony No. 7 in D minor, Opus 70). It is a rare treat to have a combination conductor/soloist leading the Orchestra, only the second time I can recall in about 12 years of attendance. The other instance was with Anne-Sophie Mutter, also a violinist, a few years ago now.
Nose has cut yellow apple, bag full of lemons, light vanilla, light oak and limestone paste.
Palate has cold butter, sugared lemon, lemon pith, quince, yellow cherry and creamy oak lingers on the medium-long finish.
Quite Chablis-like, except the touch of wood notes are a little heavier, but the caveat, this wine is very young, likely drinking great 2021-23.
24 Hour Update: Oak has subsided, just a great bottle today. — 6 years ago
