Woodlands

Chloe Chardonnay 2012

Woodlands make one of the best Cabernet blends in Margaret River IMO and this is Stuart Watson’s best cuvée of Chardonnay. Lovely grilled cashew aromas with grapefruit. Medium weight with Citrus and some stone fruit notes. Medium + intensity. Excellent Chardonnay. Another 5 years of potential. Tasted my 2nd bottle 61 weeks later on 2nd March 2019 also at Paros. Richer with more stone fruit richer delicious favours. Excellent Chardonnay. Drinking superbly. Now 95 points. Next in a year. — 7 years ago

Turley

Rancho Escondido Zinfandel 2004

Lots of blueberry, raspberry, ripe plum with a touch of vanilla and cinnamon spices. Very smooth and tasty, perfect for this Mother's Day evening. I have noticed there's a lot of us that have tried a Turley wine in the past. Montestefano Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2013

Excellent. Approachable Nebbiolo, 2013--just enough age to make it enjoyable. Getting ready for our upcoming Italy trip! Looking for recommendations. Visiting Barolo et al and Puglia this time around.

Friends: where should we go? Who should we meet? What should we drink?

@M. Christopher Roebuck I’m with @Bill Bender on Vietti. Never question Bill. I also like the suggestion of Gaja especially if it’s so close to your apartment. Cheers and have a wonderful time.

In Puglia I can recommend Gianfranco Fino in Taranto, Li Veli (former owners of Avignonesi) and Tenute Rubino in Brindisi, Agricole Vallone in Lecce and Severino Garofano in Copertino. Enjoy!

Weber Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2008

16.5/20 (89/100) Вино с ароматами вишневого джема, карамели, ванили и намеком на кожу. Легкое с достаточно высокой кислотностью и гладкими танинами. Очень хорошо! #prowein2018 — 7 years ago

Every market trip, I take a flyer on a small producer. This one is a good QPR producer. Stuart is the Owner/Winemaker and is not flashy, very straight forward and salt of the earth. His wines are nicely made and at a very good price point. I think this is $20 in the US. Ripe, ruby, big lush, blackberries, dark chocolate, black licorice, dark cherries, deep medium intensity spices on the nose. Blackberries black raspberries, black plum, warm spices of; clove, cinnamon & nutmeg, mocha, black pepper, underbrush, stem inclusion, medium plus tannins, slightly tarry, good acidity and a very nice quality long finish for $20. — 8 years ago

Woodlands

Margaret Woodlands Vineyard Red Blend 2009

Deep Crimson. Aromas of Cedar, Bay Leaf and dried Herbs. A totally balanced and seamless claret - very good for Woodlands 2nd ranked Cuvée but not as long lived as I thought it would be when first tasted 5 years ago. Hats off to Stuart and Andrew Watson - a very Good Cabernet Blend with great QPR. Tasted again 272 weeks later on 24th June 2022. From the excellent 2009 vintage. Andrew Watson said to drink the 2010 before the 2009 which was the better vintage. All the Cab descriptors including bay leaf, blackberry and Margaret River herbaceous notes. Great QPR. Had the last 2009 Margaret on 11th April 2024. Certainly needed to be drunk at 15 years of age. A little tired and descending off the plateau. Still good for a 2nd wine. 90 points. — 8 years ago
