Tasting great right now. Needs about an hour of air and even better at 2-3hours. Cherries, minerals, game almost blood sausage like, pepper, hint of baking spice. It’s light despite these flavors. Initially it had a manure funk that has completely drifted away. A lot of tart cherry and berry smashed onto a stone plate. It’s really unique. I love blends like this! 2/3 of the grapes here are almost always used in tiny amounts with major grapes, but rarely blended with each other. This one had beautiful floral aromas, with some cranberry and pomegranate. On the palate, raspberry, strawberry, and cherry flavors pop out. Great pairing with a Thanksgiving-in-February turkey dinner. 56% Cinsault, 29% Syrah, 15% Carignan. 2/20/22. — 4 years ago

Oreno, takes its name from the river crossing the estate where the farmhouse is found. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 mos in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Big ripe berry fruit aromas with sweet spice notes. On the palate rich blackberry & cherry flavors with cacao, tobacco, oak & flinty tones. Firm big tannins needing time showing great aging potential, lingering ending with succulent earthy mineral character. ‘15 much better. Tasting Sample! — 7 years ago

First thing: much earthier than I anticipated. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of ripe fruit: lemon 🍋, pineapple 🍍, and apricot 🍑. But before the fruit, there’s smoky minerality 💨 and dried thyme 🌱 followed by hazelnut. 🌰
