DuMOL

Lia Russian River Valley Viognier 2013

13' DuMOL Viognier. Light pale in color. Wildflowers on the nose. Abundance of tropical fruit on the palate. Finishing with crisp acidity. Perfect food pairing Viognier! DON'T serve this too cold! NO Malolactic fermentation. Neutral oak barrels.

I just love a wine you can serve to your friends and family as they walk in the door. Then serving it as an option for dinner also. 👍

Ahi Tuna appetizer. Sea Bass for dinner which I split with my wife. Somebody walked by with a cone of french fries. I was certainly a bad boy… but they were so good!

So popular in the early 2000's. Then with the onslaught of burgundy producers such as Aubert ETC... What's the latest & greatest?!? Make very good Syrah too... obviously Viognier!

La Rioja Alta

Reserva Viña Ardanza Rioja Tempranillo Garnacha 2005

La Rioja Alta is but a stone's throw from my other favorite Rioja producer, Lopez de Heredia. The pedigree of the 2005 Reserva Viña Ardanza is evidenced by layered, complex aromatics—leather, terracotta roof tiles, plums and sun-baked figs, Madagascar vanilla bean and a lofty top note of char. In the mouth, it's medium bodied, but no less intense, and varied, with red cherries giving way to black peppercorn and green notes of dill, celeriac and dried rosemary. Perhaps even dark chocolate shavings. — 10 years ago

Château de Montfaucon

Baron Louis Cru Des Côtes du Rhône Lirac Red Rhone Blend 2010

From an estate just a stone's throw across the river from highly esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf du Pape. The winemaker, Rodolphe de Pins, is a UC Davis grad and one of the former winemakers from Vieux Telegraphe. This wine's pedigree and classic style shows through. Complex and layered with notes of cherry, blackberry, garrigue, and pepper. It continues to bloom with another layer of floral, pine needles, and cedar. Lingering tannins and vibrant acidity polish the lustrous finish. The 2010 vintage was exceptional for the Southern Rhone, this wine included. — 11 years ago

Sonoma Valley Dolcetto 2013

Delivered to my door in PA today. We don't get wine delivery in my state so it was a monumental moment. At any rate, this 2013 beauty is going down nicely with the arrival of our first snowstorm of the season. #blizzard2016hottubwine — 10 years ago

Seaglass Wine

Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2013

I am charmed by this wine! Lovely ripe fruit, nice balance, and frankly amazing for the price. Tons of aromatics, this wine has it all going on. Throw this into your blind tasting and watch it fool everybody. Picked up at Churchills in Maumee, Ohio for $12. — 10 years ago

Amisfield

RKV Reserve Pinot Noir

Hello once again Rocky Knoll Vineyard!
New release 2012 at the cellar door on July 1st.
About 500 cases of triumphant Central Pinot. Lacks the acidity of previous years, but makes up for it in plenty of whole bunching tannic punch!
35% new French oak and 18 months in oak all around makes for one bucking bronco of a 2012 Pinot!
Never mind the snow on the Pisa range in March the said, let's make something to cellar a decade or more why not!
Rich, dark and spicy, just throw it in the cellar!

Cheers!

Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2013

NB: we popped what was left of this bottle after it had been "Coravined" (which is rapidly on its way to becoming a verb) for about four months. Only half of the bottle remained, so we popped it, poured glasses then decanted the rest.
Important to note that part of this experience because the wine had changed over he time of its first pour back in April of this year in the sense that while still potent & impressive, it seems to have fallen asleep a bit, and is not revealing its potential of rich, buttery lusciousness. Yet.
..:k, hold on ;).
It's beautiful, and as it breathes, opens and warms, it's blossoming into all the expectations one demands to fill at this $$$. +$. And it's growing as I type.

So with the obvious caveat in having the Coravin acting as our variable in the equation - she held up well enough for us to relish in it tonight. To swim around in the lusciousness of the Russian River Valley- even if we had to be quiet so as to not wake he folks who owned the pool. I snuck a kiss in there somewhere. Eventually & with care.

Throw some beautifully prepared artichokes and some crab legs into that Russian River Valley- and you got a STEW BABY!

The Bruery

Hottenroth Berliner Weisse

Apple cider vinegar nose with hard, funky, tiny apricots that live in fuzzy birds nests between a Giant's toes. Seltzer and dried lemon peel that throw the funk dowlin. Outrageous white Afro of suds, initially. Super crackery with funk cheese spread pops out of the lemon wall like a thick wedge. Overall very integrated, however, to the degree it feels light. — 11 years ago
