Powerful wine needed time to open. Serious material and dry extract with a long freight train finish. Practically ex cellar bottle drunk at the Hosteliere in Chablis with Stephan Moreau. — 10 years ago

Côte Rôti is a stunning wine in some hands, like this a blend of Viognier(10%) and Syrah , very elegant with a smoky finish, Domaine Jean-Michel Stephan and of course vin nature. — 10 years ago
Dense, complex, light to medium tannin. Balanced acidity. Slim. Sexy. — 10 years ago

Stephan Vineyards Syrah, Cab, Petit Verdot blend. 16% alcohol. Big fruit. — 11 years ago
God I love old Riesling. Still vibrant at 17 years old, in a mellow sort of way. Electric golden colour, oily, diesel, petroleum jelly, honey-dipped rocks, river spray...so freaking cool. From Richmond Hill Wines, unbelievably $25ish. — 12 years ago

This is a 75/25 Roussanne/Viognier blend from Guillaume Fabre, former assistant to Stephan Asseo of L'Aventure and now winemaker/proprieter of Clos Solene. Discovered this place based on a recommendation from L'Aventure, and the wines are fantastic. This one is drinking beautifully right now - terrific aromas of white flowers, petrol, and honeysuckle - but with enough acidity to keep it alive. Will be posting notes on a red we'll be pouring in a bit, but RUN, don't walk to try these wines. — 10 years ago

Elegant and fruity nose. Fruity palate and light. Spicey as well. So gamey. Bacon. Killer. — 11 years ago

A nearly perfect wine. Sweetness had dissipated. Salty meaty herby goodness. Tasted like Côte de boeuf with tarragon. Not too much acid either. Almost weightless. Have had some disappointing wines from 98, but great producers who were meticulous were able to transcend the vintage. — 9 years ago
