Wines in that area tend to be much "bigger or fatter with the ML. Staglins enjoy the Corton stylr more. Large structure but without the big butter and oak. Elegance

The nose has a wonderful anise, meaty Rhone with a hint sage at end. If blindfolded tasting this I would guessed a 15-year Staglin. On the palate not a rough edge on this 06 the tannins have beautifully integrated in this wine dark fruit with a hint of forest floor with anise and cedar box on the back end, it lingers leaving you satisfied. Impressive perfumed nose of vanilla and roses. Beautiful core of sweet tobacco and Sangio-cherry. So well made, has at least 3-5 years to go. I was told Garen Staglin maintains a small patch of Sangiovese in Rutherford. Now I understand why. — 8 years ago
