Clear and bright pale lemon. Clean pronounced aromas of ripe apricot, sage, fennel and gingerbread. On the palate it's dry albeit with a lush glyceric texture with medium plus intensity flavors of of apricot pie with a smiley charred crust and a touch of nutmeg and spice. Medium plus alcohol, medium plus acidity, well integrated oak, balanced with a medium plus finish. Complex, unique and well balanced. Okay, 2011 was supposedly a bad vintage. Don't tell the folks at Hall. This is really nice Napa Cabernet. Not a giant fruit bomb but excellently integrated tannins and acid. Very nice tastes of black fruit, raspberries and spices. The finish brings on very nice hints of coffee and smiley oak. A very nice wine that probably has another 8-10 years to mature. — 9 years ago

What a difference from the last bottle, which I apparently rated 8.3 (Based on the old "smiley face" scale). This one was crisp with no spritz. Great Cali Chard. Hope the remaining two bottles are like this. — 11 years ago
