Solid dry wine. Lots of body without being too big. — 5 years ago
Very smooth. Very nice combination with red pasta sauce. Definitely will buy again — 5 years ago
Bright cab. Well balanced. Lovely fruit. Integrated tannins. — 6 years ago
Vibrant rusty-red colour, slightly brown on the ridges from aging. Pronounced legs. Intense nose of dark cherries and dried plum with chocolate and wood. Medium acidity, strong yet smooth tannins, dark cherries, big mouth-feel and long-lasting finish, fantastic wine! — 8 years ago
Certainly not refined, but this 2005 Ch. Moulin Riche (at the time branded as the second wine of Léoville-Poyferré) is an earthy, gutsy Saint-Julien from a superb vintage that carries its sixteen years of age with aplomb, even from half bottle. Almost no bricking, the colour is a vibrant mid ruby.
Very funky on the nose (a little brett, I think), even with two hours of air, there’s a spicy core of cassis, blackberry, plum, cedar, even cinnamon, which is all contained within a rich palate and a framework full of tannin and energy. The finish is long, vibrant, and mouthwatering. I must say I really respect this wine. I would expect it to continue to age well.

Day 1 (one hour open):
Dark garnet color good clarity, boiled leather and stewed cherry on the nose. Nice mineral note, coffee bean, cocoa, toast, still very tannic, mouth-coating, bit powdery on the back side. Lots of grip. Almost salty. Finishes with bite.
Day 2 (sixteen hours open):
Oxblood color, lingering stewed cherry scent, concentrated cola flavor, but savory - very cool. Tannins dispersed, still nice weight. Delicious. — 5 years ago

30 min decant. Deep dark red/blue. Strong vanilla and dark fruit nose. Smooth alcoholic palate. Firm tannins on medium long finish. This is classic high level Coombsville, which I love. — 8 years ago
A simply glorious aged Bordeaux Blanc, shared for my big four zero, the 2004 Pavillion Blanc by Chateau Margaux is silky, opulently textured and has insanely good poise and length. Right out of the gate you are impressed with the range of aromatics from lychee and starfruit to damp earth, wild mushroom and brandy soaked pear. Once on the attack, you are surprised by the freshness imparted in this wine that now stands at sixteen years of age. The soft mouthfeel gives this an err of elegance as the wine effortlessly glides across the mid palate with a bright beam of salinity. The captivating, exceedingly long finish produces the final crescendo. One thing is clear — this beautiful Bordeaux Blanc still has a long life ahead of it. Drink 2020-2035- 97 — 5 years ago
All upfront. No finish. Big bold dark fruit. A small hint of cherries. As it opens up., there is more of a dry finish. — 7 years ago
