Another wine from Orin Swift Cellars. And another one I love. It’s bold and deep. The nose is full of ripe plum, and some other dark fruit with a sweet vanilla. And on the palate it opens itself with some chocolate and a leather. Eight Years In The Dessert needs decantation. Give this wine an hour in a glass and you won’t be disappointed. — 5 years ago

A year later getting the pleasure to open this wine again. The color is a deep inky purple garnet with some noticeable bricking. An expressive nose of chocolate, dark cherry and stewed meat. Scents of pencil lead, pine and rustic oak notes follow. What can I say! So exquisitely balanced and layered giving a an overall creamy feel to the palate. Taste is full of black cherry fruit, dark chocolate, cedar, minerals and charcoal. The finish is long lingering with robust plum. Absolutely delicious and a wonderful way to please the senses on this Friday night! — 4 years ago
The 2018 Lapierre Morgon is a spark plug bursting with energy. Even six hours in the decanter wasn’t enough to get this to uncoil but it started to give a glimpse of things to come. In the glass, it pours a hazy, garnet color. On the nose, it’s all raspberries and apricots. On the palate, it’s raspberries, apricots, rhubarb, dry earth and minerals. Medium tannin. Medium acid. Best to let these sit for a few years in my opinion and could potentially be at their best around 2025. I really like where this is headed. — 5 years ago

The 2005 Viña Tondonia Rioja Reserva Blanco is a sensational blend of 90% Viura with 10% Malvasia all sourced from the Viña Tondonia Vineyard. The wine was aged for six years in American oak barrels and then for an additional six years in bottle prior to release. The wine itself begins with intense aromas of salted pear, marzipan, smoked pineapple and hints of apricot all taking shape beautifully in the glass. Bright and intense, with a gorgeous mouthfeel, this wine delivers both a silky texture and lithe minerality. Hugely complex flavors of wet stone, green apple, smoke and starfruit all combine on the palate. Gorgeous and generous now, with an exceedingly long finish, this beautiful wine has decades ahead of it. Drink 2019-2038- 95 — 6 years ago
First time tasting YQuem and it is truly in a class of its own so hard to justify a ranking. But for pure pleasure it’s also hard to imagine anything better. It’s flavors seem elusive, and shade into each other tricking your senses, all of which is intensely enjoyable. When you try to focus on its honey sweetness it turns its darkness on you and is all herbal. When you call out its mouthfeel it slides past you, both unctuous and feathery. Amazing experience. — 6 years ago

Not sure how many people are aware of this Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. If you are not I would highly recommend you check it out. Medium acids with earthy fruit and somehow very rich. I really enjoy this wine. — 4 years ago
