Immediately after opening the bottle I was greeted with its beautiful fragrance. Dark, vibrantly light and smooth, this wine can be drank completely on its own. Delicious acidity. — 9 years ago

The 2008 vintage has aged beautifully and I submit that it is approaching its peak potential. The dark fruit flavor coupled with mature balance on the palate makes this offering well worth an excellent rating. Sir Rolland has championed this wine as possibly the premium wine of the Long Shadows brand. Paired nicely with the house NY Strip Steak...4 Cheers!!!! — 10 years ago
Tasted the 1998 vintage out of magnum at Lord's cricket ground in the Hardy's box (if you please!) This wine shows that Aus has the cool climates for quality fizz grapes. Has aged very gracefully and has a lovely balance of freshness & lovely biscuit notes coming through. Wow. — 10 years ago
Sanlúcar de Barrameda was the port that Christopher Columbus set off from in 1492. Just 1 year earlier, duties on wine exports from Sanlúcar had been abolished to take advantage of English merchants desperate for new supply after the loss of Bordeaux.
It began a centuries-long romance between Sherry and English wine lovers, as immortalized in Shakespeare's Henry IV Part 2, when Falstaff glorifies sturdy Spanish 'sack' over thin Bordeaux 'claret' and Rhine 'hock'.
But the honeymoon, quite literally, was not to last. Henry VIII's divorce from Catherine of Aragon drove a wedge between England and Catholic Europe, and left English wine lovers in need of a new source once again. But Sherry fanatics wouldn't have to go entirely without. When Sir Francis Drake sailed into Cádiz and burned the Spanish fleet in 1587, he carried away 2,900 butts of Sherry - enough to supply London for years - as his most famous prize.

Now we are talking! This was our first night of the evening tonight. I've been dying to try this from my cellar. Peter Michael only made 50 bottles of this and I was lucky enough to obtain one at release. It was, by far, one of the absolute best Chardonnays that I have ever had in my life......Ever! Absolutely Amazing.
Opulent., rich., buttery, creme Brulé, vanilla, pear, almond honey. Each was distinctive and yet perfectly integrated. With a finish that made you wait minutes between sips. Absolutely our WOTN this evening. Simply Perfect. All that I can say at this point is........., thank you sir may I have another!!!!!

Spice, cedar, and menthol on the nose. Restrained fruit for a California Pinot Noir. Brambly fruit with pleasant whole cluster notes. — 10 years ago
Cinquiemes Cru, Fifth growth Margaux very supple and approachable. I always pick a wine with the Chateau depicted on the label. Shows they are proud. Sir Winston Pub, Lille, France — 6 years ago
Decided to go to Ruth's Chris this evening for SF Restaurant Week and had this wine off their list. It was a nice surprise given I had never heard of it but how can you say no to Carignan! — 9 years ago
Has held up quite nicely considering sir Parker's initial 86 rating. Great earthiness, black fruit, tobacco and spice and completely smooth and lacking any tannins whatsoever. Was go time 5 years ago but still held up quite nicely - Carl's place 06-02-16 — 10 years ago
