Singing Water Vineyards

Spottswoode

Family Estate Grown St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 1993

1993 mag - big bold and beautiful - one hour decant was needed and frighten when cork was cracked when pulling but man this big boy was singing

Now all that said - this wine was absolutely ready to be enjoyed - if sitting on this one better drink it

Color was darkest red and smell had it all with the taste of black fruits and the finish was not the longest but definitely satisfying

Good friends and good wine equals great smiles

Had this a number of times and loved it, but haven’t had it in quite awhile. Good to see it still showing well.

Martinelli

Water Trough Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013

Darker Ruby with aromas of big red fruits and slight spice. On the palate bold black cherry, blackberry and plum with rich tannins around some oak. Well balanced the fruit stays with this wine on a lingering finish. — 10 years ago

La Rioja Alta

Gran Reserva 904 Rioja Tempranillo Graciano 1994

Red currant and stewed blood orange peel, figs, medium bodied. Great at open, but the singing started 1 hour in. — 10 years ago

Aaron I did not realize that 81 was a good vintage, maybe list in the shadow of 82 and 85, cheers

Yarivyo Wine Score the 81 is an average vintage but the wines are really great now and more approachable than vintages such as 1985, 1986, 1988 and 1990.

I actually find the vintages if the 80s approachable and delicious, I don't like Bordeaux to mature ... So I actually focus on the 90s these days , cheers

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 2001

Nice toluene nose initially. Bright berries and band-aids. Surprisingly tight on the back end. After an hour in the decanter a fantastic bog water nose started to emerge. Gradually opening up, but I think this wine needs another 10-15 years to hit its stride. — 10 years ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2009

A classically done wine by a classic producer. This Morgon expression is more on the garden earth/mineral/floral spectrum than the fruit spectrum, which is fine by me. Dense and structured, was singing after an hour in the decanter. — 10 years ago
