I accidentally deleted my review on this when I only wanted to edit it. Whoopsies and apologies to @Matt Perlman and @Severn Goodwin who had commented! I really love how the greenness manifests in this wine. If fresh grape jam could taste...fresh. That’s this. It’s superb. — 7 years ago
First, thank you to @Severn Goodwin for this beautiful example of White Burgundy.
@Plate & Bottle Dinner.
Second Course, Summer Squash, Sheep Fat, Parisian Gnocchi, Pistachio. Zucchini has gnocchi with basil mint and chive and purée that has lemon and pistachio. Squash is seared and confit.
Both excellent but, even better together.

Thanks @Severn Goodwin . Delicious, like a custardy texture, good acidity. Very pure. At its apogee. — 7 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the 2015 Rijk’s Cape Winemakers Guild Pinotage.
Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).
Thirty-fifth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the twenty-third red wine. This is made up of 100% Pinotage by Pierre Wahl with fruit from Tulbagh. Aged for 22 months in a mix of new and second fill French oak barrels. Only 60 cases produced with 40 being auctioned in 2018.
Dark purplish ruby red. Some classic Pinotage notes on the nose with some smoky and savory elements, dark berries, purple flowers and slightly burnt rubber. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Big palate full of blackberries, black cherries, cedar and baking spices. Long and lingering palate with great mouthfeel. Drink till 2030.
$$$$ - Tasted at the Cape Winemakers Auction. Average bid at auction was R9,670.00 ($113.75 a bottle) a case. Highest bid was R12,600.00 ($148.21 a bottle) and lowest bid was R7,800.00 ($91.75 a bottle).

Good nightcap. On a cold day. With the first day snow of the winterseason. Great idea @Severn Goodwin to drink rum at that day 👍 — 9 years ago

100% Cab Sauv. Rosé. Nothing like its American counterpart. — 12 years ago
I thought this might be a good partner to a simple homemade bolognese and it proved so. 4 hr decant and this is a silky beast. @Severn Goodwin‘s notes from 2018 apply. Lots of cedar, oak, and Napa mountain notes. Red fruits play third fiddle. Burley and beautiful. — 6 years ago
I’ve had this many times but, never just sat and enjoyed full bottle with Sofia and pick it apart to write detailed notes. A great Costco price on this Cuvée has changed that for tonight.
The nose reveals; bruised, green & golden apple without skin and a hint of tartness, touch of of apple cider, Bosc pear, pineapple, lemon/lime zest, quince, cream soda, vanillin, very light white spice, caramel notes, great chalk, sea fossils and spray, bread dough, spring flowers, jasmine and yellow lilies.
The body is full and lively. Some @Severn Goodwin might want to decant this one. The acidity is fresh, big, yet restrained on the long set. Bruised, green & golden apple without skin a hint of tartness, touch of of apple cider, Bosc pear, pineapple, lemon/lime zest, quince, more cream soda on the palate, vanillin, very light white spice with a tad of palate heat, caramel notes, great chalk that really pops, saline, haunting iodine notes, sea fossils and spray, really nice grey, fine, grainy volcanic minerals, light woodiness, bread dough, spring flowers, jasmine, citrus blossoms and yellow lilies. The long finish is, rich, well balanced, polished and persists minutes. Really hitting its mark tonight.

BSR don’t come to the African bush without it. Just like American Express, don’t leave home without it. Missed it!
All my previous notes apply.
Photos of, the nearly 20 Lions we found on our afternoon game drive. Three Males (one of them featured with the big yawn) four Lionesses and 12 or 13 Cubs, the completion of seeing the “Big Five” experience with this Buffalo on our morning game drive and most of the Lion pride laying in the sand awaiting the evening hunt.
9.3 on the BSR and a perfect 10 on our game drives.
@Severn Goodwin This ones for you! 🤣 Cheers! — 7 years ago

What Severn said. Just delicious. — 8 years ago
Matured in French Oak with slight vanilla notes on bouquet showing. The palate dominated by Citric flavours with the oak maturation giving a nice textural quality. Medium plus acid. Drank my last bottle 58 weeks later on 19th April 2019 with consistent notes. The light touch of French Oak makes it a better wine. As it turns out that was not my last bottle on April 2019. I found the last bottle and drank it on 11th October 2022. Holding up ok even though HH’s window finished at 2018. Naturally had lost some freshness. — 8 years ago
On the nose; mostly reductive in style with a hint of oxidation, Bosc pear, bruised apples, ginger soda, overly ripe pineapple, quince, saline, chalky minerals and weathering yellow lilies. The body is rich & creamy. Bosc pear, lemon citrus, bruised apples, ginger soda, overly ripe pineapple, brioche, quince, saline, chalky minerals and weathering yellow lilies. Nice acidity and rich polished finish. I enjoy the Brut Reserve but not as much as their N/V Rosé. Photos of their amazing Estate, Estate interior, dusty & moldy cellar and vineyard staff tending vines. Heading to BS rehab & weening my way off BS Rosé via their Brut Reserve. 🤣 @Severn Goodwin @Chow Food & Bar — 9 years ago

Loads of complexity, showing off black fruit, bramble, roasted bell pepper along with a more savory cured meat, hoisin, and 5-spice notes. Tasted a bit older than 5 years, but still showing really nicely — 10 years ago
A superb wine. Perfect to compliment Asian foods, or to enjoy on its own! — 13 years ago
@Severn Goodwin does this count as 2 bottles since its a mag?
Parker 93-95 back in the day. In 2015 he gave it an 97 for his 3rd tasting since release. Great at pop & pour. Nose starts to open up after some air so I’ll push it to a rare 💯 from me,

Told you to come shopping at my warehouse yesterday @Rob Brobst III , this is one of the treats I had stored, would of shared it🤷🏼♂️Holy this shouldn’t be allowed to be so yum batwoman. Fruit forward vanilla backward with something that hints at green herbs or a juniper blossom if that exists. Solid work Ehlers! I should have gotten more. @Severn Goodwin saw you weren’t as into the earlier vintage of this but this is one of the first from Laura, the new winemaker there! It’s actually more cab s than cab f — 7 years ago
2000 Vega Sicilia Unico. Dinner at Fife in Brae. Gorgeous. Black/dark fruit, roses and tar, dill. Decanted about 45 min before serving. Only kept getting better. — 7 years ago
A white blend that does very well in Margaret River and this is a fine unoaked example. Lenton Brae also have an oaked White Bordeaux style called “Wilyabrup” which can be cellared longer. Grassy with some passion fruit notes. This is delicious and refreshing - an excellent Summer white. Also great value at only $24. — 7 years ago
@Hugh O'Riordan @Craig Sedmak @Ron R @Severn Goodwin we are looking to get together Tuesday October 23. Craig & Hugh are def in town that night! If anyone else is in town more than welcome to join us please text me 551-580-1237 so we can set the place — 8 years ago

Pale lemon in colour. A funky leesy nose. Too acidic (citrus and grapefruit) and lean for my palate. This Wine won the Trophy for Best WA White Wine at the 2012 Perth Royal Wine Show. The judges must have been looking at the newer lean style back then - now going back to the fleshier Peach styles these days. Will the acid ever diminish with this wine? — 8 years ago
Nose of; strawberries, cherries, orange citrus, watermelon, light, soft chalkiness/minerals, and pink rose petals. The body is medium, rich and delicate. The fruits are lean and slightly tart; strawberries, cherries, orange, blood orange, tangerine, white citrus spray, watermelon, Georgia peach, raspberries, baking soda, light chalkiness/minerals & saline, baguette crust and pink rose petals. Very good acidity and rich finish. Nice QPR at $34.99. Thanks, it’ll get added to the rotation. @Severn Goodwin — 9 years ago
Creamy, balanced by nice acidity. DB wine expo — 9 years ago
I am not a Pinot fan. Generally leaves you hanging and the finish is not satisfying. Boy, does THIS Pinot bring it home. Rich fruit up front, almost like a Shiraz. Spicy in the middle and a nice, balanced finish. — 10 years ago

Very nice Rosè from the Languedoc-Roussillon region! Beautiful...has that orange cast to it! Medium plus body..great salinity! Showing key lime.. nectarine..cantaloupe..peach...Watermelon Jolly Ranchers..lavender..sea spray..presents to be a tidbit shy on the finish. Enjoying this with a Salmon salad...will revisit the leftovers tomorrow!
I was introduced to this
producer by accident when a "wrong bottle" was sent to me!
Thank you to @Severn Goodwin for suggesting that their Rosé is pretty decent! 😉
Enjoying this..no decant time and very minimal chill! — 6 years ago
