Really an exceptional perfectly aged red burgundy from our favorite appellation. Had at Tour d’Argent in Paris - one of the best wine lists in the world. Crazy value for a wine this old, and really delicious. Very aromatic with dried red fruit and some definite secondary / tertiary notes. But palate is quite fresh - lots of acid and a hint of menthol. Well integrated tannins and very smooth and persistent finish. Excellent. — 7 years ago
Il a très bien vieilli et est loin d’être en bout de parcours. La bouteille a pas duré longtemps. Un vrai vin de plaisir — 7 years ago

Here’s another smoking good southern french white. Very interesting blend and the first time I can remember seeing Carignan Blanc. Also Roussanne Grenache Blanc and Vermentino. Sulfur needs to blow off. So beautifully textured and detailed. Glides across the palate. Green apple, citrus, almond, custard/fondant/banana on the palate and a floral, carnation (?) finish. Seductive. This would be so fun to throw into a blind tasting. Love. — 5 years ago
Checking-in much too early on this Chambolle-Musigny. Quite dark with black cherry aromas; similar, concentrated flavors with surprisingly bright acidity for ‘15. Improved with air. Tannins are fine-grained, not hard or bitter. Very young and fresh. A solid Burg not showing any heat or over-ripe qualities from a solar harvest.

Souplesse et complexité dans cet assemblage aux notes d’épices et de petits fruits...

Just a brilliant wine from Michel Magnien, this 1er cru has retained an impressive amount of primary fruit after more than a decade. Almost CA-esque in its aromatics (no doubt related to the heat in 2003), the wine still retians an undercurrent of earthiness that allows it to evolve as it sits in the glass. Terrific balance across the mid-palate with layers of red fruits coupled with hints of morel and pine intermixed. Elegant in its evolution, the wine has an utterly seamless finish. Probably has many more years of evolution agead of it, but it’s drinking perfectly now. — 8 years ago
