Sea Smoke

Sea Smoke

Southing California Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Hit the wine jackpot on a work trip! One of two leftovers from the table next to me! Excellent Pinot. Lots of fruit and doesn't taste like a classic Pinot. Smokey wine indeed! — 7 years ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2005

Off vintage but who cares? Tignanello is a personal favorite. Took a good hour to open up, this wine tastes surprisingly young. cherry, earthiness some mineral and a little smoke flavor as well. Very good — 8 years ago

Sea Smoke

Streamside Estate Vineyard Chardonnay 2012

12' Sea Smoke Streamside Chardonnay. Last time I tried this particular bottle...made a note saying WAIT. It hasn't quite been a year.

Light golden in color(slightly darker then a year ago )Medium-ish body. This acidity has settled down since I had this last year(it needed to) quite nicely. Tropical flavors are still pronounced in the wine. Yellow apple, pear, pineapple, nutmeg & vanilla. Secondary flavors are starting to open up. Would enjoy trying this again in 2/3 years.

Martinelli

Three Sisters Vineyard Sea Ridge Meadow Chardonnay 2015

The Sea Ridge Chardonnay is rich and ample all in the Martinelli style but well balanced. Lemon pie, custard, ripe melons and French oak. Not the most subtle wine but very good in its own right. — 7 years ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 2006

Granite. The wine has great freshness of fruit and funk. Bright, biologique, red fruit; lean body and phenolically ripe velvet tannins; starting to develop secondary and tertiary notes of smoke, ash, and graphite. — 8 years ago

Domaine Auguste Clape

Cornas Syrah 2002

A phenomenal intensity even after 14 years. The structure may not be what it was in youth, but this evolves in the glass even still. Char, smoke, dark berries, ash, and a medley of attractive brett qualities. Wonderful length. — 9 years ago

Wish I had understood what these wines turn into at age 20, back when they were (relatively) cheap and easy pickings. This was excellent, mature and singing with a perfectly grilled steak.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1966

Amazing wine that never disappoints with soaring aromatics of dark red fruits, licorice, soy, smoke, tar, leather, cedar & cigar box. Both floral & elegant that should hold for another 10 years. — 7 years ago

La Chapelle Hermitage Syrah 2011

Brooding nose of leather, smoke olive black cherry tar, dried meat and licorice, deep and complex. Massive but tight on palate, loads of cherry olivine extract, but quite sharp. Very mineral, big mid, acid could be higher. Very syrah, and high caliber juice...far too young to drink though. Give at least 7-8 more years..2011 vintage. — 10 years ago
