Not your Mom's Sauvignon Blanc — 10 years ago
From the famed Prichard Hill estate vineyard, this 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a cult wine, rubbing shoulders with Screaming Eagle, Harlan and Colgin. The nose is typical of Napa Cab, with rich aromas of steeped blackberries, cassis, saddle leather, spice box and carmelized brown sugar. On the palate, it's silky, sexy and nicely balanced. There is a lovely, polished interplay of fine tannins and glycerol, along with darker notes of saddle leather, cedar, and espresso beans. Medium plus finish. — 10 years ago

This is honestly the best Chardonnay I've had. I don't normally drink white, let alone Chardonnay, but this is just spectacular. The hints of caramelised popcorn with a dash of heaven take me on a whirlwind to some magical land off yonder. — 9 years ago
As I put my sweet baby girl to bed after a looong day, snuggling with her in her new "big girl bed", I found a stray eyelash on her cheek. Maybe I'm alone in this, but for as long as I can remember I have been superstitiously transferring these from one finger to another...and if I blow the lash off while making a wish, "they" say it will come true. I tried wishing this was a 2007 Screaming Eagle - or that I could magically be beamed onto David Lentine's Napa trip for the night (ha!). Alas, no such luck. Seriously thou, with my kids' lashes, I have always wished the same thing: "may you have a wonderful life." But I made this addition: "may you always have the courage to be yourself." #inthistogether #overturnHB2 #onlylove — 9 years ago

A bit closed at first. Decanted and this wine was screaming. Great time to open your 03s — 10 years ago
A fascinating and little-known brand owned by Kenzo Tsujimoto, who purchased 3,800 acres along the slopes of Mt. George in the late 1980s. Kenzo Estate wines are the result of a collaboration between winemaker Heidi Barrett of Screaming Eagle and legendary viticulturalist David Abreu, the wines are almost exclusively exported to Japan, and they sport an impressive price tag. This half bottle of 2013 Asatsuyu Sauvignon Blanc sells for a mere $95.00, if you can find it. Nuanced aromas of guava, underripe pineapple and peach pit give way to an attack that is surprisingly round and full. For me, the most intriguing aspect of this wine is how much it narrows it's focus at the finish, one that is interlaced with classic Sauvignon Blanc herbaceousness and chalky minerality. — 10 years ago
A screaming value at under $20. — 10 years ago
I had a hate-hate relationship with Grenache for a long time (alcohol, lack of acid, lots of high-extraction style winemaking), but this is one of the wines that turned me around on the variety when @Caleb Ganzer served me a bottle a few years ago. Red fruited, meaty, peppery, with plenty of red flower perfume. This is clean, low-intervention winemaking, with only a little appealing pinch of VA. There's a slightly chubby texture, but trim acid keeps the wine moving forward. Somehow this wine would appeal to the Burgundy drinker, as well as the California Pinot drinker, and you know, people who like Grenache. A screaming deal at $25-ish. — 10 years ago

2012, Aphros 10, Vinho Verde, Loureiro. Single varietal Vinho Verde, so good. Tart green apple, citrus, minerality and screaming acidity. Would pair great with raw oysters. — 9 years ago
Enjoying the fruits of our sister winery.
Dry, but with lots of botrytis. Kind of weird because I expected it to have a bit of RS after just smelling it. Citrus/lime/zest, spice/ginger/saffron, honey, stone fruit/peach/something, saline/chalky/mineral. Thick/glycerol texture, but not really weighty or dense. Actually kind of fresh even with the botrytis because it's got screaming acid. — 9 years ago
Interesting proprietary blend from Jonata, sister vineyard of Screaming Eagle.. Predominantly Syrah with four Bordeaux varietals, Sangiovese and Viognier. Lots of pepper, rich fruit, timber and asphalt on the nose. Extracted dark fruit and baking spices on the palette. Little resemblance to other central coast wines. Only gripe is the bitterness on the finish -- maybe this will fade in time? Still a solid effort in a great vintage. — 9 years ago
Screaming nose: seaspray, garbage juice, slight plasticity, restrained oak — 10 years ago
Screaming Eagle vs Jonata ?? In a few years maybe - this wine is a great expression of the terroir at their perfect ranch - awesome with cheese, meats and some roasted fruit #jonata #screamingeagle — 10 years ago

Screaming acidity, and I really enjoyed the use of oak. It was both familiar and entirely new, which made it a treat to drink — 8 years ago
