Day 1: Not a better value in aged wine. Period. Green apple, slate, slate, slate and petrol intermingled with smoke and leather. Stunning nose. A bit tight out of the gates but uncoils over 30 minutes and become a symphony of aromas and a typical '96 Mosel with high acid, candied apple, almost apple-tini flavors. Lovely depth and purity. Remarkable wine.
Day 2: Nose is all candied apple/jellybaby with lovely slate and petrol. Almost a foie element as well. That smoke persists as well. Palate has terrific freshness and acids today with deep green apple fruit and a hint of sweetness. — 10 years ago

From Ernie's private cellar! He makes one barrel a year only for personal consumption and lays them down for 25 years. This '90 Graacher Himmelreich is the current release and must be the best Sekt in Germany. I think it would give some top Champagnes a run for their money in a blind tasting. #notmessingaround — 11 years ago

earthy and very mineral forward. stonefruit brings up the back end. — 11 years ago
Stunning. Beautiful bottle development, nice tension between acid and fruit. Good depth and excellent length. Will certainly go the long haul. — 12 years ago
