1993 Georges de Voguet. Fathers Day dinner w mnd, IK, and K at Carl. Remarkably young tasting. Opened up a lot after 30 min in the glass. Rustic, really full-bodied. Didn’t have that prettiness or softness that the Leroys often have. — 8 years ago
Wow. First taste of mature Mugnier and Zuni's iconic roast chicken. Could not be a better pairing. Soft and integrated red and black fruit with subtle spice and just a touch of that Nuits St. George rustic tannin but balanced and led by Mugnier's elegance and generosity. Nuits St. George meets Chambolle Musigny. Yes please — 9 years ago
This is excellent. There can't be a better expression of this grape. Sophisticated but keeps a rustic edge. Intense nose with flowers, raspberries, lemon, leather and a slight plastic or metallic quality. Medium to full on the palate, with dried flowers, dust and fruit. Really nicely made. — 9 years ago
An excellent expression of Cornas with a healthy age on it. Last of several bottles I bought in 2012 or 2013. Earthy, mushrooms, and a touch of anise on the nose and mouth. Rustic Syrah from the Northern Rhone by an old master. — 10 years ago
A bit rustic on its own but delicious with food. — 9 years ago
Drank over the course of 4 hours, very tight at first but after a while in the decanter it opened beautifully, very powerful and rustic. Roasted meat, olives, pepper, blackberry. — 9 years ago

Best saison I've ever had. Near perfect beer. Bottle conditioned. Dry apricot, lemon peel, fresh hay, saison funk, it goes on and on to a bone dry, and tart finish. — 10 years ago
Really tasty. Smooth, not too dry. Easy to drink. Really great finish. This will become a part of the rotation. — 7 years ago

Sipping Fine Wine
Had another bottle, Wow! Laura Catena, 4th gen winemaker, grew up in Argentine-Italian winemaking family in Mendoza. Wines, named after her children - Luca, Dante & Nicola - background of the label is the McDermott coat of arms of her American husband, Daniel McDermott. Single-vineyard wine from land belonging to the Laborde family. Deep red with big ripe fruits & smoky oak. Palate plum & jammy blackberry, spice with nice earthy character. Tannins are a bit rustic, lingering ending with toasty oak & spice. — 7 years ago
