Are you kidding me for $20!?! Such unity in this wine. Ripe peaches, lychee, and nectarine with laser acidity and maybe a touch of RS? Structure, weight, and confidence. Love this. — 9 years ago
I only wish this hadn't been my LAST drink of the night. Even so it was great. Full, powerful, berry, a little bit of dirt in a good way. Didn't need any time to open up. @Nick Rosenberg — 10 years ago
I could blind this as clos vougeot. As close to perfection as I've ever found in an Austrian red and drinking perfectly at the moment. Aromatics are intense with tons of acid as well. Spicy red cherries, soy sauce, game, thyme, and salty peanuts. Woah. — 11 years ago

From a time when oak use was a bit more prominent here, the nose is complex but not that Blaufränkisch - oak, spice, earth and blackberries. Palate is clean, lots of fruit, silky flow, oak creaminess but with a little more of the fresh blue and black fruit and a crack of pepper. Pretty long, too. Nicely composed. — 10 years ago
Tangy and minerally. Fun glass cork too. — 11 years ago
Anyone know where to purchase?

2014 vintage. Honeycomb, green pear, yellow apple, honeysuckle, wet rocks. High acid at first, as is typical of the vintage, but mellows out a bit the next day. Good Merkelbach typicity. Always love these guys and their elegantly restrained style. — 9 years ago
