Richly dense and structured chard. Flavors are full throttle with tropical fruits and vanilla cream. — 9 years ago
Moderate reddish purple in the glass. Pretty floral and perfumed notes on the nose with more subtle earthiness. Ripe, juicy, concentrated black cherry with licorice and spice. The coolest region of KB's three appellation level pinots and a blend of Garys', Pisoni, Rosella's, Sierra Mar, and Soberanes vineyards. I prefer it to the Sonoma Coast and Russian River offerings. — 10 years ago
14.2% alc., 115 cases made.
I continue to be very impressed by this winery.
Bracing acidity and limited application of oak makes the varietal shine.
To my palate this is one of the most French-looking Chards coming out of CA these days.
BRAVO!! — 10 years ago

2013 Testa Rossa Chardonnay, Rosella's Vineyard (California Santa Lucia Highlands).
Best-balanced TR Chardonnay to date: nice aromas of honeysuckle and lemon, mid-bodied across the palate with nice green apple acid balanced with a touch of oak on the finish. Super good. — 11 years ago
Big heady meaty wine. Yum. — 13 years ago
I haven’t had a Cali Chardonnay in a long time. This is very nice. Golden color. Nose has ripe pit fruit, light vanillin, and a background note of crushed rocks. Mouthfilling but not heavy at all, the palate is more on the savory side. I like the juxtaposition of the light mouthfeel with lots of flavor. — 9 years ago
Brian Loring, a friend from ebob days and current friend on FB sent me a case of wine. This is one of many notes on that case. I have not had a CA chard in ages. It's a big rich nose for sure. Buttery. Not really oaky but rich aromas. Also beyond that is some mineral notes. Palate has great acids, and is much more lean and mineral on the palate than the nose leads you to believe. Nice freshness and well made. Persistent. Palate is compact, medium bodied and zippy. Acids Hit your palate nicely on the finish. — 10 years ago
Nice flavors but could use some acid punch — 10 years ago
It's good. It's really good. Shows off that bright, confectionary fruit typical of the Santa Lucia Highlands area. Here's the thing though: Sierra Mar Vineyard was only planted in 2008. The vines are still pretty young. The Franscionis have a stellar (and well deserved) reputation for their vineyards, and I'm sure Sierra Mar will get there, but right now I'm just not sure it's showing the complexity I'd like for a $60 single vineyard Pinot. If it's between this and Roar's Gary's Vineyard, Rosella's Vineyard, or Pisoni Vineyard, get one of the other single vineyards. — 10 years ago
Wow, surprisingly impressive. Yeasty, dry, rich and full bodied...just the way I like my bubbles. — 11 years ago
Beautiful , great fruit and acid, great momentum through the mouth. — 12 years ago

Had this in a restaurant in La Jolla and the producer happened to come over as he was in the restaurant. This is the 2014, second year made, with fruit from Pisoni vineyard. Absolutely delicious. Sweet black cherry, good structure, long finish, some good grip/light tannins. — 9 years ago
Very pale salmon color, slight burnt aroma that blew off, great acidity, creamy texture #rare — 10 years ago
Stunning. — 10 years ago
Excellent pinot. Just starting to show hints of age with dried fruits on the nose. Palate is silky smooth with racy acidity. Good stuff. — 10 years ago
Lovely apricot lemon on the nose and balanced acidity on the finish. — 11 years ago
So I got one of Bob's before he did...amazing! — 12 years ago
