Had a bottle of this 2 years ago after it scooped the pool at the Royal Brisbane Wine Show. I can’t see why it got the accolades - an excellent Pinot Noir no doubt but not Champion Red of the Show. Colour of mid crimson with dark cherry. Initially on opening some oaky varnishy notes with stalkiness. On palate good intensity where the savouriness presides over the fruit dry cherry flavours. Nice acidity. Honey and some vanilla on the nose. Took it for an Alsatian Riesling in a blind tasting (potentially for its age) - had a hint of petrol on the back end of the palate and loads of fresh fruit - generally white fruits (white peach, etc). Definitely a revisit! — 9 years ago
