Tasted blind. Light tawny and translucent. Old wine nose. Notes of soft delicate red fruit, light rhubarb, some mushroom and some sweet cherries. In the mouth it’s missing impact and energy. Acidity is very light. Past it’s prime, although I wonder if this was open too long as the host said it was singing when opened, but then had 6 hrs in the decanter. I thought I was just getting a taste of this earlier in the day, but ended up with an invite to the dinner where it was served.
Over the course of 6 hours the different parts came together into a beautiful herbal vosne with a strong herbal Leroy fingerprint. I like seeing successful results of a good long decant. — 7 years ago
No. 5 in the Vosne Romanee bracket. My notes said “This is La Tache “ which proved to be wrong. All tasted blind to reiterate. Intoxicating aromas of florals red fruit and a hint of sandalwood. Similar energy on the palate but medium weight with some austerity at the finish. Not as full bodied as some DRC Richebourgs I have had. JH said “effortless complexity “. — 7 years ago

super interesting expression, not too much toast, lemon, good acid, amber color — 5 years ago
Tiny hint of reduction but beyond that it is super floral and with loads of cherry fruit. Iron, very mineral. Elemental stuff. Dusty and very very refined. Hit of licorice. Really alluring nose. Just stunning. These wines give nothing in their youth and then the blossom. Stunningly fresh and vibrant with still some tannic grip but wonderful balance and depth. Saps your palate and tales of over. This is truly on its way to being great. It’s long and saline and has floral echoes on the finish. Profound. But with age, 3-6 more years, this will be lights out. — 6 years ago

First time tasting a GC Leroy and it was really out there. Pungent, overt, aromatic, intoxicating comes to mind. Blinded and had no idea. KP guessed it to be an 11' DRC. Said that 04' and 11' was all about the lady bug. He didn't think it was a Leroy because he felt it was too modern. — 8 years ago
