'Eloquent' is a bold, masculine red wine. Smoke, pepper, black cherry, and blueberry harmonize with resolute tannins and a slate driven earth quality. — 8 years ago
1959 vintage. Medium garnet. Some VA on the nose. Floral, hints of oak notes. Not a hell of a lot of fruit. Very astringent. Turning to vinegar? Tannin is still very much present and gives the wine a resolute structure. Finish is pretty darn good. — 9 years ago
Interesting to sip a Pouilly Fumé Cuvée Silice from one of the most trusted values in the region at such an age. While she's in the repose of her twilight years she's not merely a beauty of a bygone time but instead lively and lovely whose company rewards whoever has a chance afternoon with her. Who would ever credit Sauvignon Blanc even one of this crystalline emerald variety as a wine that might take an age in a cool cellar? 13 years! Even through the crazing crows' feet these eyes shine brightly and despite how cray paper skin drapes over the cheek bones of Sauvignon Blanc, this is still nimble and pulses with lives yet to live -not merely memories to regale its audience of how things once were, what she once was or could have been. Honeycomb, lemon curd, nettles wilting in grassy green olive oil, and then the lime leaves...so familiar and yet always exotic of distant shores and climates so far from this northern land of four resolute seasons. As to ratings: how can any of us quantify sensual pleasures really. This was a joy no matter how you cut it and yet given my surprise at Sauvignon Blanc at 13 years on still having so much to say I cannot speak highly enough. The Blanchets do it again! — 9 years ago
Marmalade on a tartar based biscuit, spruce trimmings, dried apples, hazelnuts and sprouted spaghetti squash. There is a dried mint note to dazzle. Three types of citrus vie for entry, pomelo, grapefruit and tangerine, but each recedes and ducks away to sour peach and old beeswax, kafir leaf, pencil, rosemary and dry oregano. Dry finish of resolute grace. — 8 years ago
I find myself trying to pick the fruit into a forest of resolute, scented but not aggressive leather and I discover wood, tobacco, dried rose, rosemary, liqorice. Finally here is it, a vivid red fruit and rose petals. In the mouth, sweet tannins and spices. Balanced and intense structure. Good acidity. Leather is the "fil rouge" of this novel, written in proud tones, but elegantly painted with a clear and trasparent garnet red with an orange touch. — 9 years ago

Malvasia (skin macerated) reference point. In such a nice place out of the gate; today (day 3) shows more depth and layers. Savory orange, appropriate bitterness, firm grip, resolute length, shows no heat or imbalance (at 14abv)…I could go on. Some folks rally around Ograde, but my money has always been on the Malvasia. — 9 years ago
All Barossa and McLaren Vale fruit this year, 2% Cabernet and 17months brand new American oak. Whiffs of fine mahogany, spiced plums, blackberry, some dried fruit, mettwurst, slight florals and a lick of vanilla. Just coming into the realm of full bodied, not coming across over bearing at all. Not defined by resolute tannin it's amazingly approachable now, showing amazing balance and composure, but the tannin is there, dragging long and fine with harmonious acid. A beauty of a wine. — 8 years ago
Lush and full bodied, tannic and very ripe fruit. — 8 years ago
loved this wine from the get go with its notes of wild raspberries, blackcurrant, plum, dried tobacco, mint and touches of smoke and leafiness. Medium to full bodied in palate, acid there but keeps things fresh and tannin by no means resolute. Drinks well now, but no harm in holding on for a few more winters. Super solid offering and great value for the bucks 👏🏼 — 8 years ago
Fine, lingering lace on this blushing bride, with a train of elephants walking in space around the top. Dried starfruit and desiccated apricots, caramel apple and lemon merengue the an emphasis on the brown tips of the merengue. Also a sweet clay note rounding it out. Like mashed bananas in suspension. Piney note that effervesces in crystalline grains, turns smooth, round and absolutely impeccable! Orange peel, smoky chiffon, cedar plank, grilled banana leaf, lemon and pineapple mousse. The flavors integrate seamlessly; coconut and lemongrass following with resolute intent. — 9 years ago
Resolute. Has held stronger than I imagined. Intense herbal and cassis nose. Mineral and spice tinged palate along with the requisite black fruit. — 10 years ago
