I drank this at their open house, and at the time I thought it was one of the best 2011's we tasted. This is another example of a wine that will have the "experts" pondering the 2011 vintage. This may be similar to a 2003 for selected wineries. I'll go on the record that I like it - a lot. — 10 years ago

I'm like a skipping record with these Pupillins but the initial shipment was 'impressive' size so the repeats are so inevitable.

Only after googling this wine I -oddly- came to know that terroir authority, saxophone player and owner Pedro Parra got inspiration from jazz record label Blue Note for this eye-catching wine label. But that's only the tip of the iceberg! A juicy, extremely refreshing, light-bodied red from Carignan and Malbec a.o, a multi blend that is different every year. My grandfather, a renowned local-drunk traveled every season to Cauquenes (a coastal, dry-farmed spot south of Santiago) to buy a number of demijohns for his own consumption, and I suspect that that wine tasted more or less like this. It's funny how young and iconoclasts winemakers are bringing Chile back to its roots by looking at the future. Yeast, yeast, yeast! Lovely aroma of bread and superbly tiny bubbles. My nose was so delighted, my brain forgot to record the nuances of taste! Perhaps after one more bottle I can write a proper description. — 11 years ago
Medium brilliant gold. Apples, lemon cream, and wet stones on the nose. The palate mimics the nose, with a whisper of vanilla. Crisp, lingering acid and a lacy long finish. Perfect match for tonight's roasted chicken. My record say I paid about $18 at the cellar door. Hard to believe. — 12 years ago

Friday nights wine comes from the right bank of Bordeaux - Canon Fronsac. The 2010 Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The Herve family first started making wine back in 1890 and continue to today. A great track record and delivering a well valued Bordeaux.
The nose is very expressive with dark fruits of black plum, blackberry, black currant, licorice, clove, coffee beans and tar.
Upon first sip black cherries jump out at you full force, with blueberries, a smooth coating of creme de cassis and dried oregano.
There is a nice full bodied mouth feel with medium + acidity and medium sandy tannins.
For the price this is a very nice and serviceable Bordeaux.
