The first wine of peru using a native grape, The two main taste profiles- Acidic & Earthy. Not a common combo but one I believe works for my taste. We also ate with excellent peruvian food. would also pair well with seafood ceviche, — 3 years ago
Unique wine! Blend of 75 % Cabernet Sauvignon , 6% Cabernet franc, 16 % Petit Verdot, 3 % merlot. Aromas of grapes, leather and dirt. On the tongue flavors of cigar, oak, leather and tart berrys . Slightly tawny on the finish, but smooth and well rounded. Yummy!!!!!!! The is a definite favorite!!!! — 8 years ago
A full body CS from Chile. Deep garnet in color with pleasant nose of fruits and leather, tanins are powerful and smoothen within an hour of opening. — 5 months ago
Big very big 15%. Good Atkins has it 96 points. A ton of sour cherry! In a cab. Blackberry, Tealeaves, very sophisticated tannins. Refined. Not my style but excellent. — a year ago
This is a blend of 85% Cabernet & 15% Syrah and grown at an elevation of 2100 feet with an average vine age of 25 years. 50-50% fermentation in oak and stainless steel. At a retail price point of $20, it’s quite good. The tannins are soft and round. It shows a lot of brighter red fruits of dark cherries, strawberries and some blackberries, touch of pepper, crushed rocks and dry top soil, dark red fresh florals, good acidity and nice finish. Producer history and notes...In the early 1990’s, Bruno Prats (Chateau Cos The) and Paul Pontallier (Chateau Margaux) discovered the high caliber of Cabernet Sauvignon being made from Chile’s Alto Maipo region. They partnered Felipe de Solminihac, a renowned Chilean agronomist, oenologist and winemaker in the region. They purchased 45 acres in the 'Quebrada de Macul', considered the heart of the Maipo Valley vineyards and Viña Aquitania was born. In January 2003, Ghislain de Montgolfier (CEO of Bollinger Champagne), became the fourth partner. Good list of French pedigree involved in Aquitania. — 8 years ago
Really interesting #chile #pinotnoir - candied cherry, softly smoky nose, bright fruit continues on the tongue up front, some sous bois on the finish. — 6 months ago
Smooth and rich. Subtle complexity with a peppery, mineral aftertaste. — 2 years ago
v19. Love it! One of those “ wishing you were there wines”! Toasty creme brûlée with salon hints nose. Fresh, creamy, pear and apple fruit. Bright, clean, round, slightly salty, mineral finish. Nicely balanced and a very nice food wine. — 3 years ago
Sadly this is the last vintage of Quebrada Seca for De Martino as the vineyard will be rented to someone else. Again, this wine over-deliveries. A beauty showing enormous complexity: ripe melons, sea spray, chalk, wood (not oak), lees. Creaminess balanced by a lingering finish led by acid and saltness. — 8 years ago

Alba de Domus – Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Upper Maipo Valley, Chile 🇨🇱
Overview
A bold and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon (95–100%, often with a tiny fraction of Cabernet Franc depending on the vintage) from the famed Domus Aurea estate in the Upper Maipo Valley. Known for its mountain terroir, this wine shows the classic strength and rustic elegance of Chile’s best Cabernets.
Aromas & Flavors
Deep, complex aromatics of blackberries, black cherries, cassis, and dried figs, laced with espresso, dark chocolate, cedar, and tobacco leaf. A subtle earthy and mineral undertone speaks to its Andean foothill origins.
Mouthfeel
Full-bodied and texturized, with high intensity and firm structure. Tannins are bold yet polished, while the 15.4% ABV provides warmth and weight without overwhelming balance. The finish is long, layered, and espresso-driven, lingering with dark fruits and spice.
Winemaking Notes
Unfiltered and aged in French oak, this Cabernet is designed for longevity. The 2019 vintage already shows power and depth, but its construction suggests it will evolve beautifully over the next 8–12 years.
Food Pairing
Ideal with robust dishes: grilled ribeye, lamb shank, venison, or earthy stews. Also pairs wonderfully with aged Manchego or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Verdict
Hot, intense, and layered — a true statement Cabernet from the Maipo Valley. Already climbing its prime, yet with enough structure to age gracefully. For lovers of powerhouse reds with espresso and dark chocolate complexity. — a month ago
