Fresh berries on the nose lead to a bright raspberry palate with an acidity that conveys a pink grapefruit-esque edge to the bramble and leaf notes in the finish. This is light-to-medium bodied and seems like a wine that’s best to enjoy over the next few years. — 6 years ago
Californian Mourvèdre. Merry red cherry with white bread in the finish — 7 years ago
Strawberry, spice, earth, and faint herbal/bell pepper note dominates the nose. Bright strawberries, spice, pepper, and a nice silky acidity provides moderate intensity in the mouth. Showing well tonight baby! — 7 years ago
In Spokane at clickerdagger A 2011 for $85. Good tasting. Loved our server. Party of 9. Wine and Titos and good friends. — 8 years ago
12.8% alcohol -- wonderfully high acids launch the dark cherry fruit. This wine is proof that great wines are made in every vintage. — 9 years ago
13.7% alc.
9 barrels made. $90/btl.
From AR note sheet:
"33 year old vines grown in Franciscan shale and sandy loam over limestone at 2200' in the Santa Cruz Mountains at the top of Montebello Road above Cupertino. Fermented 30% whole cluster with native yeast, and basket pressed to 30% new French oak barrels for 22 months." — 9 years ago
This is a big wine. Take a reference sip right after you open the bottle, and then let it sit for a while. Gentle oak on the nose. Nice, deep fruit in the middle. Smooth tannins on the finish. Put the kids to bed, grab a frozen pizza, and put in a movie. It's going to be a while. Finish with some dark chocolate, or course! — 9 years ago
Finally finishing this bottle after almost a week in the fridge. Damn straight good. Glad a have a few to follow. — 5 years ago
This yellow-gold wine rings the “old-style Cali” bell in all the right ways. A nose of apricots, mangoes and apples is helped along with the smell of buttered popcorn. Oak treats the palate as well, draping over the tropical fruit like a sunshade. The acidity is zesty, yet the mouthfeel tends toward creaminess due to the wine sitting on the lees for five months. The oak is a definite part of the wine, but the effect is softened enough so that it's a pleasure, not a pain. — 6 years ago
Great wine! Compliments everything from lamb to chocolate. Best wine I’ve had in awhile — 7 years ago
I’ve started seeing quite a bit of this winery on Delectable as of late, and @Jason Oliver does a great job of being an ambassador for them. He informed me of a killer deal they had going, so I snagged a 3-pack.
Robbie Meyer (of Del Dotto, Pierson Meyer) became the full time winemaker in 2015. The Spur is their red blend and really is an awesome value for Livermore Valley. Bordeaux varietals + petite sirah. Super dark in the glass. Nose is full of herbs, crushed blackberries, graphite. I thought it would be super heavy on the palate due to the color, but it was soft. Easy to pick up the petite sirah in this with the spice and pepper on the finish. Tart and spicy fruit too like rhubarb. Smokiness and cedar wood. Looking forward to the merlot and Malbec I have. — 7 years ago
Hey now,, hook me up COSTCO. Pomegranate red light earth nose, above the tree line clarity. Eases you through from start to finish. Gave a slight morning camp chill before drinking and believe the change in temp added to the ability to transport me out of southern heat and humidity. — 9 years ago
Ruby red in color with a nose of red fruits, leather, and spice. Nicely balanced despite the 15.8% AbV. On the palate, rich, jammy flavors of strawberry, and spices. Had this for lunch with M. at HSH.

I can understand how many people are in love with this one. Creaminess, honey,. It's like a nectar. — 9 years ago
Just like a spectacular, old school Côte Rotie from the Côte Brune with pepper and minerals dominating the nose, then olive, pepper, and brambly fruit and the palate, if you want to experience what great Côte Rotie was like on release in the 1990s, this is where to look. — 6 years ago
Clear, light lemon yellow
Clean, medium intense notes of white floral, stones, clay, lemon, beeswax. Soft and pretty nose.
Dry, medium acid body and alcohol (13.2% ABV). Flavors of lemon, mild apricot, mineral. Finish is a medium+
Very good, and would love to revisit this vintage in the future. Brie & apricot pizza.
Would be interested to see a Roussanne+Marsanne collaboration with Donkey & Goat (Skin Fermented Marsanne)
NOTES: “Most of the wine was fermented and aged in a clay Amphorae with the remainder in barrel.” — 6 years ago
⚡️Man, these wines have so much verve.. they remind me of my 4-yr old - full of freaking energy and absolutely unrelenting... in a good way of course 😇
Nose is so clean with some mineral drive, crisp Granny Smith, and floral aromatics, palate is lively and fresh.. much more crisp and light weight than the Charles Heintz vineyard. The anti-Cali chard. Rombauer lovers, look away! 😆 — 7 years ago
The wines from Domaine Eden are made in part from deselected barrels from Mount Eden, one of the most iconic estates in the world that sits at an elevation of 2000 feet in the Santa Cruz Mountains, overlooking Silicon Valley. Domaine Eden's 2014 Pinot Noir is a pleasant, easygoing mid-weight wine to drink now and over the next few years. Sweet floral notes, spice, hard candy, herb and dried cherry are all nicely lifted in this pretty, delineated Pinot. This is an especially fragrant, aromatic style for the Domaine Eden Pinot. @John Raytek makes Chard like no one else in CA — 8 years ago
Kiwi claret. Can compare to a modern style classified growth Bordeaux or a Super Tuscan. 2006 and could last another decade. Nice depth and length of flavour with good acidity. Purchased at the winery in Hawkes Bay. — 9 years ago
More oak and structure than I expect from a merlot, not as soft. In other words, I liked it because it didn't taste like a merlot. — 9 years ago
Really fun wine. Has more in common with white Burgundy than NZ Sauvignon blanc. A little funky, citrus, minerals and full bodied — 10 years ago
