Absolute delight. Fruit and lemon balanced by tannins. Silky. — 5 months ago
Tropical fruit, white grapefruit, flowers, sea spray, baking spices, Chantilly cream, green peppercorns, and hints of chalky minerals. Lengthy, smooth finish. Perhaps more aromatic with less concentrated fruit than the 2017. Australia once again showing its strength for super complex, outstanding Chardonnay without the Napa or Burgundy prices.
Worth noting critics rating this 94-98 pts. With the increased aromatics, I prefer it ever slightly to the 2017. — 7 months ago
A remarkable wine. Still some tannins and acidity, and great red color. — 10 months ago
So fruit forward and so easy drinking …. And lovely. Not for snobs or wine intellectuals. For hedonists. — 2 years ago
Smooth .... good for at least another 10 years.... — 6 years ago
LOVED. And I have not been drinking much Chardonnay anymore — 7 years ago
Pear and paw-paw, lemon pudding, pineapple spray, and lime zest form the atmosphere, riveting pine and lime interplay on landing, chalky and dusty brown touch, getting steely and framing a lemon peel and racy peach skin that recalls a Condrieu strata that keeps it very interesting indeed. #southafricanwine #cheninblanc #steen — 8 years ago

Kanonkop knows Pinotage and they are experts at creating a Pinotage that can age for 20-30 years. You wouldn’t necessarily expect that for a grape that is a a crossing between a Pinot Noir and a Hermitage (an old name for Cinsault). This one was 13 years old and we still had to tame it down when it came out of the bottle. After about an hour of decanting the oak flavors of rich cigar and leather had well integrated with the earthy dark red, almost jammy, fruit. A full bodied, complex wine with lingering finish was created that disappeared way too fast. Follow us on www.spokenwines.com with an upcoming story about a winery that uses the Pinotage grape to make very unique rose that is out of this world. — 5 months ago

This is a BIG Pinot. Big, fruit dominated nose, with a little herbal spice on the back end, with hints of black olive and rose permeating throughout. Big palate and body, with an herbal, hay or thyme palate, tannic, with a salinity that’s prominent, with black olive, some tar, and even a smokiness hitting the end, with dark cherry, plum, and a peppery spice showing up loud on the palate. Really good entry to South African Pinot. — 8 months ago

Brilliant silver-straw. Lime zest, honeysuckle, succulent herbs and chalky minerals on the incisive nose. Dry, tightly focused and lithe on the palate, offering intense citrus and orchard fruit flavors that reveal a hint of waxiness and a refreshingly bitter quinine note. Shows a delicate touch and finishes clean, nervy and quite long, with resonating mineral character and a hint of lemon thyme. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)

Generous fruit, plums, blackberries and vanilla. With savory spice notes and a well masked but helpful acidity. This wine is like candy but not in a boring way. — 8 years ago

Agree with others that it is a great BBQ wine. On its own though, a few of us found it too sweet for our liking. — 9 years ago
