Smokey nose. Spice. Deep and concentrated. Very chewy. Big tannins. Powerful and deep. An ager. Gorgeous. @Delectable Wine this is called Poggio della Dogana “Poggiogirato.” — 5 years ago
Couldn’t find a vintage. Not a great wine, just OK. In Ireland for a couple of weeks so mostly doing beers. Haven’t tried any Irish wines....if there are any... — 6 years ago
Spring is coming as so are aspargus dishes. This went great with aspargus risotto we had to balance the rarher meat filled easter menu — 7 years ago
Such an intense inviting nose and sexy opulent palate. I’ve been on a roll lately with excellent Sangiovese based wines (this is 100%), but this ranks high across the board, and still not close to fully mature. Herbs and spices, leather, ripe rich red fruits, silky tannins, buoyant acidity. Nothing NOT to like here, especially when paired with a pork osso bucco. — 7 years ago
Meaty and savorty with dark subdued fruit and subtle leathery tannin. — 8 years ago
Really nice Amarone! 2013. All the classic flavors. Wonderfully paired with Japanese curry. — 3 years ago
Smells like a muddled shaker of mosaic hops, Douglas fir, marijuana stems, and orange blossom honey. Earthy and floral and plenty of citrus too.
Allow it to warm to see full character and flavor. Flavors of grapefruit IPA become honeyed tangerine and jasmine. — 4 years ago
New winery to me. Poggio Della Dogana. @Delectable Wine - killer nose. Deep and floral. Foresty. Smells like a lot of death is here. Ripe, deep and juicy. Black cherry galore and velvety tannins and very fresh. Long finish. Great. — 5 years ago
Our son and Daughter in Law brought this for Easter weekend - we loved it — 6 years ago
A really interesting white wine! Very fruity and somewhat acidic but still carries the tannins of a Nebbiolo. Held up nicely against a pasta with pumpkin sage cream sauce. Would love to have again! — 7 years ago
16 June 2017. At the vineyard, Villa Della Torre. Lunch paired with 4 wines. This is a fabulous Amarone. Dried red fruit on the nose. Smooth and well balanced on the palate. Medium - full bodied. Not too dry, not too fruity. A pleasure to drink. Yum. 👍 — 8 years ago

October 2, 2021. Dinner w/Jack D, Dean, Bridget. Wine no. 1. I have had this several times — first at Allegrini’s Villa delle Torre. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Such a good wine! Dark fruit, smooth balanced tannins. I could drink this all night. — 4 years ago

Single vineyard 100% Sangiovese, this 13’ Chianti Classical Riserva displays
fragrant nose of sour cherry, strawberry, thyme, balsamic, incense, hint of violet and barnyard. Great fruit intensity on the palate with lots of earthy nuances. High yet round acidity. Polished grippy tannins lead to an elegant long finish.
This would stand tall to a lot of BdM. — 3 years ago
