Perfect picnic wine! Light and fruity. — 10 years ago
Right bank Bordeaux imitating pipeño. Old vine plots of Merlot, Malbec and Cab-sav, biodynamic farming, fermented with only native yeast and aged 12 months in amphorae (unlined?), which has performed like an old-school microbullage, mellowing the tannins and fruit, yet the results are lifted not flabby. Soft and refreshing, with a genteel savory finish and slow building tannins. Needs a vigorous decant before drinking with Trader Joe’s ‘Pastry Puffs’. — 7 years ago

Delectable couldn't identify the pic. No surprise since they don't use a UPC label. Is actually still a país but not pipeño. Santa Cruz de Coya . . . Perhaps not not an especially complex wine, but has a beautiful, slightly foggy light ruby color; it's unfiltered and you get a really acidic mid-palate grip. I thought it was terrific. And I clearly need to keep drinking more small producer País. My first 2016. — 8 years ago

40% Malbec, 30% Pais, 30% Cab
DO Secano Interior, de Yumbel
Dark ruby with blue hue. Opaque in the center, irony, hibiscus, nutmeg, dusty, ripe banana peel, slightly herbal with savory note. On the palate: ripe raspberry, pomegranate, high tannin, med body, clean and refreshing mouth feel but can feel the alcohol in the throat. Cinnamon, steel, slightly licorice. Med to Med plus acidity. Leave mouth dry. An interesting blend with lots of characters. Tasted a lot better on second day. — 7 years ago
