Château Peybonhomme-les Tours
Energies Red Bordeaux Blend

2019 vintage. Biodynamically farmed. Merlot 60 % and Malbec 40%. Aged in amphorae, no wood. Red berries, strawberries and flowers. Very fresh in the mouth, juicy and energetic (yes, the name is well-chosen). Has a light feel about it, even with 14% abv. Delicious.

Right bank Bordeaux imitating pipeño. Old vine plots of Merlot, Malbec and Cab-sav, biodynamic farming, fermented with only native yeast and aged 12 months in amphorae (unlined?), which has performed like an old-school microbullage, mellowing the tannins and fruit, yet the results are lifted not flabby. Soft and refreshing, with a genteel savory finish and slow building tannins. Needs a vigorous decant before drinking with Trader Joe’s ‘Pastry Puffs’.
