Masterclass in San Francisco with Saskia De Rothschild, Chairwoman DBR Lafite. Chateau Rieussec is another property that the Rothschild’s own.
1997 a difficult vintage for reds in Bordeaux. The upside is, when the reds lag, the whites almost always shine.
The nose shows; marmalade, dry peaches & apricots, pineapple, citrus blend, fresh orange peel, burnt almonds, almond cake, nut skin, burnt toffee, honey, caramel, beeswax, waxiness, toast, limestone, gravely stones, fruit blossoms and yellow florals.
The body is thick, gluey and rich. The mouthfeel magnificent. There is almost a dry tannin presence but it is it’s dry, gritty volcanic minerality, marmalade, dry peaches & apricots, pineapple, citrus blend, fresh orange peel, burnt almonds, almond cake, nut skin, burnt toffee, honey, caramel, beeswax, waxiness, toast, limestone, gravely stones, fruit blossoms and yellow florals. The acidity round and splendid. The finish is rich, well balanced, elegant, polished and delicious.
All wines arrived weeks ago directly from the Chateau.

Probably the best Chardonnay I’ve ever had. Pear and citrus on the nose. Pineapple and pear on the palate. Very well balanced. — 6 years ago
Not too sweet and tastes just like pineapples! Pairs great with poke or Thai food. I was really shocked by how much I liked this wine and I’m not normally a sweet white wine drinker. — 6 years ago
Pineapple creme apricot honey spice really nice — 7 years ago
Purchased during a recent visit to Hawaii and it survived the flight back to AZ. Very fragrant- a solid punch in the sniffer of pineapple sweetness. Brings back awesome memories of a fantastic vacation. Can't say I'd drink it regularly but it definitely a fun treat. — 7 years ago
Such a wonderful surprise...
Explosive nose of honeysuckle and pineapple.
The palette has a distinct Viognier signature, which is extravagant. My close French friend questioned if this chard was blended with Viognier? Who cares, it's just stand-out. Excellent balance of acidity, texture and delicate sweetness. One of the best white wines we have tasted.
A gift from my good friend Santa @Martin G Rivard. We will not forget this. Thank you! — 8 years ago
Pineapple on the nose; stone and acid on the palate. Clean aftertaste. Superb. — 8 years ago

The body is; round, rich, bold, thick & waxy. It is gorgeous over the palate. Mashed, sour, candied/liqueured, meyer lemon, grapefruit pulp, dry & candied pineapple, golden apple, key lime, stone fruit, tangerine & green apple w/ almost no skin, fresh, herbal qualities, honey, beeswax, vanillin, warm caramel, toffee, marmalade, white spice, limestone minerals, soft chalkiness, wet stone, dusty dry rocks, saline notes with yellow lilies, white florals & mixed greens. The acidity is, beautifully, round & phat. The rich, ruby, heather honied, well balanced/polished finish delicious & lingers well.

Dark golden bordering Carmel. Seductive nose. Ginger root, organic honey, and toasted almond. The oxidation is in a great spot. Medium weight with dried apricot and pineapple. Acidity carries on the finish. In a wonderful place, drink or hold. — 5 years ago
Quite a debate about is this skunky, and if it is, how do you define it. To me, it was definitely a bit sulphuric with some burnt popcorn. Fruit is fairly subdued throughout...more grilled buttered pineapple and cashew. Out of the two, this definitely appeals to the French crowd. Thanks for the intro to this @Benjamin Keator ! — 6 years ago

A really beautiful New World Chardonnay. Initial notes of golden apple and a touch of pineapple. Balanced acidity and oakiness come through as lemon curd and vanilla. — 8 years ago
It tastes like a Pina Colada! — 8 years ago
Nose of honey, oak, ripe apple, nice and fruity. Taste of refreshing acidity wrapped in round sweetness, green apple and pineapple. Aftertaste of subtle zest, bitterness dressed with sweetness and spice. Nicely done. — 8 years ago
Pale gold
Developing notes intense aromas of what used to be called minerality (now reduction) notes that remind of Riesling
Pyracinic floral notes like white flowers then lemon sherbert vanilla honey
high acidity lemon, grapefruit, pineapple and tropical flavors
full body high intensity flavors

Consistently delicious and great value in Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Champagne.
Fresh, reductive, lively on the palate. Green apple, lemon, lime zest, baguette crust, pineapple, white peach, lanolin, cream, perfect chalk & minerality, yellow & white florals, beautiful acidity and rich polished finish that persists.

No detailed notes as we were at dinner with friends. Three Somm’s present for dinner and all thought this was wine of the night. I was one of them.
I believe their 15 is even better than their fantastic 2010.
If you are not familiar with this producer & terroir, I highly recommend you do. It remains under most consumers radar. I should probably stay silent on it as it will only drive up demand and price. But, good wine is meant to be shared with people who know how to appreciate it. This is around $55 on pre-arrival and $70ish if not bought on pre-arrival.
Olivier Lamy left the family Domaine to learn from other producers before returning to his family Domaine. He made Méo-Camuzet for few years just before his return.
The body was thick and slightly waxy. Nice green apple, pineapple, lime, honeysuckle, fruit blossoms with excellent round acidity, texture, elegant and well polished finish.
Recommend you slightly over chill it and decant it for an hour if you drink it this young. After it hour, it really blossoms.

2013 vintage. Nose of lemon zest, citrus blossom, pineapple. Beautiful balanced Chard. Lemon, gingered poached pear, canary melon, white sage. Just enough oak. 14.2% ABV. — 6 years ago
Super drinkable. Pineapple or lime and greens - like leaves or green peppers. — 6 years ago
Very good, easy to drink on its own, but would certainly hold up to a variety of foods ... would be quite good with fish. On the nose - initial strong notes of apricot and possibly pineapple, more subtle notes of green apple, peach, and purple grape. On the palette - quite fruity, relatively long finish. Maybe a bit of fig taste. Comes across as sweet but in further thought is rather off dry. Creamy in the mouth. Strong mandarin flavor. — 6 years ago
Pineapple, baked banana, golden raisin, cognac, ginger and lemon grass. Unique. — 8 years ago
Pineapple, bruised green pear, granny smith apples, wheat grass, bitter almond flowers, gardenias, gunpowder, lemon curd. Bright yet rounded acidity, lean oily texture, light/medium bodied, crisp briny slightly bitter finish. Excels way beyond price point. Incredibly balanced. Beautiful now, would love to revisit in another 10 years. — 8 years ago
Beautiful, nailed the timing on opening this 2010 vintage bottle! Lemon, vanilla and a hint of pineapple turnover on the nose; supple and lovely mouthfeel showing mellow citrus and tropical fruit flavors, a hint of vanilla, and very soft, moderated acid, with a lovely, long finish. Easily the best chard we've had in many months. — 8 years ago
Smooth, pear, pineapple....wonderful citrus finish. 2012 vintage, great bottle of wine — 9 years ago

Rich and full body showing strong intensity and power. Pineapple core, exotic citrus fruits and hints of orange skin and marzipan. Length is exceptional as is its depth. Decant. — 4 years ago
