Robardelle Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Super stoney nose with black cherry, black cherry compote, mineral and herbs. Really wonderful, fresh and complex. Mashed flowers. Stunningly deep and layered. Palate is deep, elegant and wonderfully finesse driven. Sappy and pure but so light on its feet. Wonderful palate that is at once silky and also structured and deep. Amazingly sweet black and dark red cherries. Long finish. Needs to open but all there. — 2 years ago

Bourgogne Cote d'Or Pinot Noir 2017

A very interesting wine. A very difficult vintage that the winemaker addressed with stupid low yields. If you love wine, a great wine to drink to see how a very good winemaker handled a rough year in non elite terroir. His 1er crus were sick in 17.

Nose is purplish. Dark. Swirling. Sexy. But a bit Brutish but in a sexy way.

Palate is dark fruit. Very very dense for a wine at this level. Very. The fruit outweighs the acidity although it’s not stewy at present.

I’d drink this now. It might peak in 6-12 months. But I have no idea. My gut is the far side of the mountain is steep. But man this is an effing fun drink today. If you have a bunch of save one for a few years just to see what happens. Science baby.

La Rousse Malbec

Deep ruby with juicy red berries and plum, leather and cocoa aromas, balanced acidity, smooth tannins, medium finish, good food wine, lighter than most Malbecs but full flavored, great for Summer. Cassis and blackberry flavors popped out after 20-30 minutes. — 6 years ago

One of my favorite Volnays. Gorgeous, pungent aromas, red cherry galore, hint of spicey oak, floral, earth and mineral. Really wide open aromatically. Layered and just fantastically complex. Palate is super pure and so juicy with wonderful silken sweet tannins and a zen like texture. So good. Wonderful medium bodied yet substantial wine with incredible depth and purity. Truly wonderful. Awesome laser like clarity on the cherry fruit. Super long finish. — 3 years ago

Always such a lovely wine at Pierrick Bouley. Floral, stoney and intense nose. But beautiful and so elegant. Very refined. Dark red cherries, earth and pastille like aromas Palate is dense and chewy, with terrific grip and purity. Very fresh, linear and energetic. Slate like tannins and wonderfully pure fruit. Sappy and so so complex. Great concentration and such lovely stoniness on the backend. Really packed. Lovely purity. Sappy and almost a cherry liquer on the midpalate and extends to the finish. Long. Wonderful village Pommard. — 4 years ago

What a showing. Big classic nose of black and red cherries, spice, mashed flowers and a firm core of mineral. Lurid, feral and brooding yet also sweet and seductive. Insanely great aromas. Palate is a bit backwards now but show the high class terroir Pierrick Bouley is working with here. Great freshness and length and also ample structure. Insane length. Better in 3-4 years but wow. — 6 years ago

Gust: sec, al principi, els gustos apareixen sobretot en el moment d'empassar (llimona) però de bon principi s'hi troba en gust de poma àcida i de pera. Persisteix a la boca el gust de les tres aromes combinades.

Just a joyous wine made from ridiculously low yields that has wonderful depth. Crazy depth for its category. Wow. What it lacks in finesse it makes up for in palate impact. Nose is cherry and leafy, palate is concentrated, high toned cherry, sour cherry, mid season cherry and black cherry and super sap and freshness. Tiny berry fruit intensity. Wow. — 5 years ago

Nose is a little toasty oak, blueberry juice, and blackberry.

Palate has oak-like cherry but very restrained on woody aspects, mid-season supermarket cherry, ripe plum, red raspberry, blackberry, TBD mineral, perfect acid levels!

I want to drink everything I have at this level, decanted for over one hour and this is absolutely perfect, nothing in the way of enjoyment. Pierrick Bouley is genius.

24hr Update: Nice giant (size-wise, not overpowering, the large sized berries have a more subtle flavor) blueberry flavor. Oak is more noticeable today, but not obtrusive to the red/blue fruits, a gentle compliment, perfect today.

Good notes. Blind tasted would you get Burgundy or new world?

@Michael Herzog Burgundy for sure for me, I tend to notice 'new world' showing more richness to the fruit. This is very respectful.
