Really yummy. Had it before Phantom at Cowell & Hubbard for $68 — 6 years ago
I know now this needs more time to integrate, but it’s down-soft in the background, so difficult to see a balanced future. Warm plum and black berry-currant, cranberry stuffing, rich chocolate, sherry trifle, all loosely sprinkled with fine graphite. Steamy jungle flora notes merge with hemp stem and black cherry skins. Hard chocolate entry bringing dried blackberry and even drier black cherry stripped naked in a sauna of chamomile and phantom eucalyptus outlines describing a swarthy shadow through steam. A recent denizen of the cedar benches, puffing sweet tobaccos? There is subtle power at play despite the fruit-forward leanings. I was initially on the fence with this. This one is enigmatic with a nod to Napa in the 1970s. #Napa #Walton #cab #cabernet #cabsauv4life #cabsav #california #egelhoff #EgelhoffWalton #Bobegelhoff #egelhoffwines #StHelena #sthelenacab — 7 years ago
Great Caesar’s Ghost! Superman’s PAL has outdone himself with this latest foray into the Phantom Zone of Bordeaux-style blends (hence “BX”) - let us simply call it a Claret. This Wine is full bodied and smooth drinking, rife with red currant and plum flavors. The balanced acidity was enough to stand up to a variety of foods, most notably a porcini mushroom ravioli dish - the pungent fungus was perfectly complemented by the wine’s slightly astringent fruit. This Claret must have been rocketed from Krypton because it has enhanced powers under our yellow sun! 😺🍷 — 8 years ago
Fruity. Drinkable. Food friendly. Perfect example of Carneros Pinot — 8 years ago
Very nice for the price. Smooth. — 8 years ago
Super interesting glou glou — 5 years ago
This is a great cab, worth the moderate price tag. Comparable to bogle phantom, which is the bar for wine around the $20 mark. — 8 years ago
Grapes from wolff vineyard in Edna Valley. Strawberry, dark cherries, violets. Pairs with salmon, lamb, pork — 8 years ago
Once again the South African phantom Eben Sadie is showing what great fruit and honest wine making will give you in the glass. So dense and intense, yet translucent and elegant. Layered, with a slight but well placed and interesting earthy funkiness. An impressive length, fully balanced and just beautiful! Day 2 and the wine is singing! — 8 years ago
We adored this wine when we first tried it at Phantom Forest in Knysna. We tried the 2014 which we loved. — 8 years ago
This is 2016 vintage and a gift opened May 30, 2019 for grilled chicken. The aroma is very mild with touch of vanilla to smooth it out. Taste smooth, dry and hint of apple with vanilla and minimal or no butter. Actually very pleasant and would recommend if you see it. I’ll try again. — 6 years ago
Apples pop on through the funk, with phantom cinnamon, green pear, and chayote. Tobacco-apple entry that goes deep golden apple and baked pear with rosemary and oregano. #cidre #EtienneDupont #bouchébrutdeNormandie #unfiltered #applecider #frenchcidre — 7 years ago
Pre-Phantom Thread snack. I bet Daniel Day Lewis likes Gamay. — 7 years ago
This is another one example of by the reason to age even 'simple' German Riesling. So refined and complex. Great as an aperitif. Delicious with Peking Duck. Both fresh with mineral scent and flavors and delicious with phantom sweetness. — 8 years ago
Sorry for being AWOL. But I bring tidings of great joy. The 2014 is out! (So is Bogle Phantom. More later! I just kiss on the first date!) I love Le Fiacre du Pape. Hands down one of the best values -- and most under the radar -- wines on the market. Brought to me many vintages ago by Señor Haro, a formidable presence in the wine world. The 2014 has great fruit, with a nice meaty backdrop. Lots of bacon fat and mushroom. Awesome. Unlike past years a bit tannic. Needs to breathe! Always one to have on hand. — 8 years ago
The wine is initially somewhat tight but is opening up after 2 hours in the decanter. Compact, layered and a comforting intensity on the palate; great freshness, a smart integrated viscosity and a muting intensity on the mid palate before a long, lingering finish. Another impressive wine from this phantom winemaker. — 8 years ago
