The inaugural vintage for cornerstone. Wine maker was Bruce Scotland. Two GI docs from Memphis got into the wine business. I bought this in 2001 at auction. To my surprise the wine is absolutely delicious. Not caught up in the high alcohol this wine is 13.5%. All mint, eucalyptus and tamed mountain tannin. — 5 years ago
So I was recently listening to the “wine for normal people” podcast and they mentioned how a lot of the Barolo and Barbaresco producers would put leftover grapes essentially into the newer DOCs. Well I open my little wine fridge and here is this Rosso from Langhe. I thought perfect timing! Not much on the nose but beautiful deep flavors. Low acid, starts with sweeter blue fruit and builds up to vanilla-oak-leather goodness. Firm cold ripe fruit that finishes quickly. Coats the mouth. Chewy, almost ripe fruit flavors. A great everyday Italian reflecting some delicious grapes. — 7 years ago
Omg this is goooood wine. Super smooth.
Picked up this bad boy this morning on the way home from last night's shift where my hall patient tried to hang himself. IN THE HALLWAY. Made a legit noose out of a sheet and everything in under 10 minutes. I mean he gets a gold star for resourcefulness. Last night's docs: Aggarwal, then Werd. Really shitty shift, but much better now. — 10 years ago
DOCs 11/21/13 with Rob, Allison, Dennis, Tyson and me — 12 years ago
I’ve been “into” Italian wines for several years now, with nerdy fervor. And it still amazes me that I can run into wines/varietals/DOCs that I’ve never heard of. This is the beauty and allure of this avocation. Restrained red fruit and tannins, in fact everything is in moderation. But the mouthfeel is silky, and the complexity from pepper and herbs is sublime. Overall this is easy drinking but with enough stuffing to handle all but the most serious food pairings. — 7 years ago
Perro Chico a Spanish Garnacha , Tempranillo Syrah. Intense red ruby colour with tastes of black fruit and spicy balsamic something and meaty ripe sweet tannins. 13.5 % alc/vol. if you see it try it. $19.00 CAD Canmore Alberta. Life is good Cheers 🍷 — 8 years ago

Wow. Totally surprised by this wine. As I understand it, La Voix is an offshoot from Steve’s flagship operation, Palmina (the best Italian varietal-based wines outside of the Old Country, IMHO). I was a bit skeptical at first - was concerned about it being over-oaked like the one vintage of John Alban’s Perra Docs North offerings that I’ve had - but this is terrific (and an amazing QPR). Definitely has an old-world flare to it in terms of acidity and minerality (more Chablis than Burgundy), but with CA fruit through and through. Do yourself a favor and try one of these! — 5 years ago

Great white with tapas!!! Or without! — 7 years ago
Slowly becoming one of my favorite DOCs...full of raspberry red fruit, tart cranberry, and some fresh minerality. A solid, if not exceptional, bottling of cerasuolo. — 11 years ago

The 1st or one of the 1st DOCs. The only DOC for white. very pretty aromatics, under ripe white stone fruit, stony, mineral, white floral. medium bodied, slightly viscous, medium acid, long long finish. delicious. this is right up my alley — 4 years ago
