Great sweet wine — 9 years ago
Opaque red w slight orange rim. Iron, earth, funk, dried herb, black cherry, rose. On palate red apple peel, more metal/funk; good acid, mild tannin, slightly bitter. Mourvèdre dominant. — 10 years ago

Full body but not heavy. — 11 years ago
Floral 👃🏽 grapefruit, Apple. Good with sushi. NOT SWEET 👍🏿 — 11 years ago
We went 2/2 tonight. This bottle was a testament to perfect storage. Cork was perfect, and the wine was dark ruby with ever so slight bricking at the rim. Awesome. More approachable than the 90 and makes you wanna curl up with it for a long time. Better than the bottle I had at the Montrose vertical a month ago. Blind I would guess 10 yrs newer. For this price point and quality it's a must add. Edged out the Margaux. — 11 years ago
Excellent bottle. The 01 is supposedly a better vintage but im not sure when it comes to this producer. Clear, day bright, garnet and orange brick like color, medium - concentration, orange/peach rim variation, slight sediment, low viscosity. Nose: sound, moderate intensity, stewed cherries/strawberries/raspberries, floral, spicy and lots of dill pickle and slight game. A mushroom note as well. Palate: dry, med- body, stewed plums over ripe cherries/strawberries, lilies, dill, vinegar, leather, button mushrooms, game, mulch with some cedar and coconut. Very complex. Med- tannins, medium alcohol, high acid, long finish. Between the 01 and the 98 its a tough choice of which one to put in the wine cooler to store. — 12 years ago
58% CS, 33% M, 6% PV, 3% CF
Slightly bricked garnet red, compact rim, more red than purple.
Pretty bouquet - red cherry, dried herbal aromas, leather, tobacco, mineral.
The palate is harmonious. Integrated tannin, med plus acidity, dry, medium bodied. Showing a lot of red fruit character, animalistic, floral. Very classic Margaux-esque character.
This wine is at the perfect drinking spot. No need at all to wait. After a solid month of full bodied, extracted Napa Cab, this is a welcome reprieve! 90. — 9 years ago
Sour cherries, frozen Welch's Framboise, berry pie, pie crust, thyme, sage, this wine evolved and morphed very quickly, very complex. The wild yeast comes through on the nose. Light alcohol and light body, but still very well extracted and viscous for under 14%. — 10 years ago
Now this is a great wine. Dark in color, almost black with a purple rim.
Magnificent nose with blueberries, figs, plums, and herbs.
Sweet candies on the palate with blueberries, cranberry, dried figs, raisins, peppercorn.
Big, bold and beautiful with gorgeous legs.
Smooth and sexy long finish with bold tannins and ripen fruits.
Great right out of the bottle. After 2 hours in the decanter, chewy tannins on the finish. This is not my first, and definitely not my last. Very consistent from year to year.
Petit petite Ft. My son. — 11 years ago
Inky dark color with a purple rim.
On the nose, Blueberries, figs, blackberries, spices, vanilla and black pepper.
Long, thin legs and 14.5% alcohol.
Bold, big and full bodied.
Smooth, sweet and sexy on the palate, with blackberries, dried figs, raisins, black pepper, vanilla and herbs.
Long lasting finish with smooth tannins and black pepper. Excellent!! — 11 years ago

Riesling's are usually too sweet for me, but I love this dry one by Pacific Rim! — 9 years ago
The color has faded to a translucent garnet with tawny colored rim. It has developed a complex bouquet of red cherry, dried fig, old leather, and tobacco as well as some barnyardy notes from Brett. This is one of my favorite producers in Rioja but I would prefer to consume this younger as although there is some nice fruit and acid, the tannins have really faded leaving little grip or bite. Classic blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, 5% Graciano, and 5% Mazuelo. — 9 years ago
Wonderful with heavy sauces and pasta at Vito's in Pacific Grove. Higher alcohol (14.5), bold fruit, and restrained tannins were an interesting mix; the long finish added to the mouth feel. — 10 years ago
Garnet with rim variation turning brick/terracota, corn on the cob, dill, molasses. — 11 years ago
I was drawn to the description including caramel and creme brûlée. Delicious! Not too sweet nor too dry. The price makes it even better. Apparently it's hard to come by so I'm buying up all I can tomorrow!!

1961. I comment it bearing in mind that it is an authentic bottle and many of us think of the contrary. Color is garnet rim, core almost ruby. Violet, raspberry, blackcurrant. So aromatic and the vivid if not juicy palate, feels like a Rioja crianza. Amazing depth of structure. Linear. Finish is broad. I'd say it's a 94 or 86, 89 if blind. Buy. — 11 years ago

Great red for people who typically favor whites. Not too tannic or heavy, well balanced without being flat — 9 years ago
