Wow, old school perfection! California wine from a forgotten age. Pure Italian-American greatness. Reminds me of the wine my childhood landlord would make from the vines that grew behind our house just upstate from NYC. Dark fruits abundant, soft acidity and tanins, nice touch of oak, without obscuring the graps as so many California wineries are obsessed with doing for some reason these days. Found this at a random liquor store on a road trip, will seek it out now. Even better than the Cribari Chianti or Coppola Rosso, which were my previous favorite in this genre, the wonderfully underappreciated "backyard" wine... — 7 years ago
Fruit forward flavors, a little spicy, medium body. Easy to drink. Tannins are not too strong. $19.99. Bought at Riverdale Vintner. — 8 years ago

Double Magnum in a beautifully etched bottle signed by the vintner and also Delicious !!! — 8 years ago
Never been a big fan, wish I was. But they do a nice Cab Franc. OK, I have learned - let breath, even decant, for 2-3 hrs. The longer the better. It really was burn at first, but give it some time, and it really popped. Smooth, dark berries, touch of funk, a little earth, iron, leather - all the nice things you expect from a Cab. Next time I'll know better, and open sooner. — 9 years ago

2Q18, magnum, drinking fantastically. Never had anything from this vintner, but was in the restaurant and saw this for a ‘reasonable’ price - as good as you would expect! — 7 years ago
Cab Franc rosé from Loire Valley. Light and dry. Strawberry and raspberry notes. This is the kind of bottle you'll want to keep all to yourself. Obsessed! — 8 years ago
My absolute favorite vintner. I hope I can find more of this next year. — 9 years ago

I knew this would be special from the moment I eyed it in the legendary K&L Wines web catalogue, and it does not disappoint. Pouring it out, its age is apparent in the colour, ruby red edging into brown. On the nose, it is a sensory overload of summer, bright sunlight shining on wild berries, the cassis note is particularly apparent. Tasting it, the nine years it’s had to integrate make it difficult to call out any individual characteristics, so well integrated and fully in harmony it has become. Reminds me of another old RRV pinot I’ve had the luck to sample, the Merry Edwards - in each case, there is some kind of wild campfire hedonism that seems to drive the chase. My friend tells me that Russian River Valley makes great wines because it’s not about the farmers, it’s about the hippies obsessed with flavour; this bottle brings me around to his way of thinking. — 8 years ago
