What we love about Riesling. Yip. This one hits all those notes... — 11 years ago
Lovely, drink now thru 2020 dry Riesling. Sadly, the last vintage from dear old Franz Karl. The kids don't want to run the business so the vineyards were sold off. Wine estate in the family since 1549. The first wine family to register a TBA in the Rheinhessen in the early 1900s. Sad. This is not an isolated example. Petrol-apples and fruit bat guano! Minerals for miles and a crisp seltzer with lime! Lemon-lime and apple cider. The burnt rubber, slate petrol rides a wave of acidity that nearly effervesces, then gets cleaner smoother but lightly smoky with tar and camphor on the citrus extract finish. — 11 years ago
