Katoukichibee Shouten Brewery Born 38 Special Junmai Daiginjo sake. Rice grain milled away to 50%, no brewer's alcohol added. Floral on the nose with jasmine and white linen. Delicate and ethereal with an unexpected spicy finish. Served with a teriyaki of Wagyu beef tenderloin, pumpkin, asparagus and onigiri rice. Followed by a dessert of poached white summer peach, Japan pearls, Suntory dry gin espuma, exotic sorbet, and petit fours. — 10 years ago
You're that open-minded hipster girl that wears flannel, but can surprise you in heels and pearls when you get to know her. Don't smile at me like that, I'm only a mortal man. — 11 years ago
Good example of a champagne that has gone through it's proper time with the lees. Butter and bread notes. Very fine pearls. — 11 years ago
Deg. 151012; Liquid gold in colour, broad and seductive nose of smoke, truffles, peat, guave, orange rind, hint of oxidation. Very soft and focussed in the mouth, Tiny pearls, hardly noticeable on the palet. A very delectable bubble. 96/100 — 12 years ago

My favorite Champagne of the night at #PBFW, the Michel Gonet Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru NV offers layered complexity on the nose and palate. Heady aromas of brioche, graham cracker, poached pear, and apple pie. The bead is quite fine, like seed pearls embroidered on golden-threaded brocade. It's sappy and intense, with a singular cord of acidity giving lift to quince and dried fig notes along with penetrating flavors of smoke and sea salt on a protracted finish. 12.5% ABV | Sample — 11 years ago

Vernaccia Nera Is a rare grape coming from Serrapetrona, Marche. It needs 2 months of drying to be ready to press, the result is a charming deep red wine, with some smoky hints. It is one of most "black pearls" we have in Italy. Very good. — 12 years ago
No fancy shmancy review. Had it with an interesting beef curry and bulgogi fusion dinner and it up to the challenge of bridging the strong diverse flavors of the meal. Did I mention the homemade bread and butter pickles with clove, the pickled beets, and steamed rice that accompanied the beef? This Malbec tied them together like stringed pearls. — 10 years ago
Cherry-red pearls lie under lace; violet sky slinks past window glass. — 12 years ago

Pure Apple. A hint of spice. Pears and pearls. Don't want it to be gone. Lasts for infinity. Slight tartness. — 10 years ago
