Screaming Eagle

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Some wines are divisive because of the wine maker, others draw criticism for style or marketing or some other of a myriad of reasons. As much as I love my wine lover brethren the "haters gonna hate" description is very apt in our community. Screaming Eagle is one of those wines for sure. The prevailing criticism is that it doesn't merit the tariff or something similar. Well....this is my first SC since the '97 and it was absolutely f'n amazing and profound. Tremendous depth with bright, lively fruit, rich gravely soil, smoke and camphor. A difference maker. — 7 years ago

Monopoles Bordeaux Supérieur Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

A nondescript roll across the tongue, this Bordeaux runs quickly into a myriad of light fruity flavors. With an acidic after bite, the wine finally fills your nostrils with the familiar tight pungent smell of red wine. — 11 years ago

Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Good stuff but the Myriad G III was superior across the board right now. This could use some time. — 7 years ago

Vin de Savoie Arbin Mondeuse 2010

Purple ruby.  Blueberry, black cherry, dry , ripe tannins, plump juicy fruit that opens up gorgeously during the hour we had to enjoy with a myriad of dishes: rabbit terrine, biche casserole, caïons… — 11 years ago

Vandenberg Riesling 2014

Love the use of some botrytis in this wine. It adds so much texture and weight to it and develops more complexity as the Riesling ages. Out of the few vintages I have had, 2014 seems fairly ripe but still well balanced and can hold up to a myriad of dishes! — 8 years ago

Azienda Agricola Valentini

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo 2012

A baby. So strange. Smelled like fresh espresso beans and flowers and white fruit plus a myriad of other crazy shit. Far out wine. Very structured and seems age worthy. I get the hype — 8 years ago

Le Garde-corps Arbois Pupillin Trousseau 2011

A little Jura funk on the nose, medium body, much richer than most Jura reds I've tried, of course still very pretty. Extremely textual, a myriad of flavours and purity of fruit - it's delicious. — 10 years ago
