Surprisingly approachable considering the vintage. Sweet morello cherries, rose petals, moist earth... a very fresh & inviting nose. On the palate this is juicy, with the tannins grippy yet finely grained and the acidity balancing true sweet cherries. Medium bodied and not over extracted nor polluted with heavy oak.
This is delicious stuff, just after opening the bottle, yet even better after 4h decanting. And absolutely perfect with a medium-rare flank steak.
You just got to love Cogno’s lightness of touch with Nebbiolo. — 6 years ago
From Magnum. Surprisingly boring. Earthy nose, cloves. Morello cherry, black tea, not that much fruit, chalky, allspice? Might need more time. In this case a generous soul bought the bottle but I need to revisit my own 750’s. I am not sure if they deserve space in my cellar. Obviously expensive. — 7 years ago
Anise, morello cherry, campari. High acid. Firm tannin. Distinctly Italian. — 8 years ago
Rose on the nose, morello cherry and fairly delicate. Beautiful. — 9 years ago
A rare vintage where the Americans and the Europeans were in agreement that it was a five star year. Powerful yet elegant made in a neo-classical style that's pleasing from the first sip. Typical aromas of dried morello cherry, black tea, rosemary, plum, soy intermingle into a palate layered with delicious, refined cooperage that tastes decadent with every sip. Tons of complexity and character without any bitter bite or over assertive ripe fruit. 2 plants to make one bottle of this world class riserva. A beautiful testament to applied effort and viticultural knowledge. — 10 years ago
World Class! Nose: Tart blackberries. rosemary, cardamom? black currant. I would spend at least 3 minutes to figure out the nose! Taste: Tart Black Forest wild morello cherries, leather belt, Black Forest tyme yes there is a thyme which grows in the meadows of the Black Forest. Color: light. Best Pinot made in Germany. If you have any ANY, ANY chance ever to get your hands on this wine get it. Usually highly allocated.
Imported by Lyle Fass or Stephen Bitterolf (vom Boden) often only one keg made. 300 bottles.
Can run with burgundies at 120$ any day tasted side by side with 2013 Mark Haisma Morey St. Denis.

Deep ruby color with damp earth, mixed berry, spice and kiss of cola aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied with a nice balance of acidity and supple mouthfeel. It exhibits concentrated morello cherry, cola, and spice flavors. Medium-long finish. — 12 years ago
Rather dark color. Open nose, elegant melting black cherry bigarot, morello cherries, with floral and herbaceous notes. The mouth is fine with many nuances and finesse. An elegant Brouilly done for aging. it should be delicious in 2.3 years.

“Black wine” with a deep robe enlivened by purple hues and with intense and dazzling aromas of slightly spicy and menthol black fruit. Nose: Intense fresh fruit: morello cherry, redcurrant, spices and liquorice Palate: Supple, fine, with crunchy fruit. Ample with good length — 6 years ago
Mad legit, gorgeous nose, pure, nuanced spine with plenty of juice and downright pinot yumminess. Crisp morello cherry, pomegranate, cranberries, blood orange, ferns, earth, Ceylon cinnamon, sandalwood, raspberry leaf, sweet herbs, ground volcanic rocks. Gorgeous floral backdrop to the wine. Structurally its nuanced, plenty of definition and focus with this juicy mid-palate, nice length and silky tannins, bright acid drives the wine. Stoked on this 🔥 — 8 years ago
2013 vintage. A rare grape indigenous to Lazio. The wine is a dark ruby color with promising red fruit, juniper, and forest floor aromas. On the palate it’s medium-bodied and fresh with a very smooth texture, and a subtle savory character. It shows distinctive Morello cherry, red mulberry, hints of red currant, black olive and vanilla flavors with an earthy undertone. Reminds me of a cross between Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc — 11 years ago
Morello cherries, chocolate ganache. Lush, silky texture — 11 years ago

One of the better #cabernetsauvignon #wine I've had in a long time. Revisiting rhis great #washington producer. Focused, balanced black cherry flavors. Like Napa but without the weight behind it. Tannins added extra character to finish. Nose has developing layers of milk chocolate, morello cherry. — 9 years ago
Thia is a great merlot.. I am very much a cab drinker and find a good merlot rare for me anyway and this was so surprisingly nice great full jammy body and a long lingering finish huge ripe blueberry pie flavor and a little cedar and morello cherry wonderful! No decanting necessary:) — 10 years ago
Blessedly under 14 degrees. Lovely blend of Morello cherry, sousbois, iron, dusty tannins, fresh acid, restrained wood. Served with dry-aged ribeye Florentine, canellini, salad of local lettuces. Did what Chianti should: wash down food, give idea of terroir (not ambition). Fresh and lively. Re-buy with conviction. Very good within context, good value, indeed. — 11 years ago
Brilliant Pinot. Morello cherries, flush with earth and spice — 12 years ago
