A little rustic at first - Decant for ca 30min. After 10 years pretty good! Still very juicy and young at heart with Morello 🍒 and chalk but also plenty of secondary flavors - earthy, forest floor, bark, black tea, blueberry on the back palate pine needles - the tannins are still quite dominant this can go for 5-10 more years. Direct from Lyle Fass and therefore not widely available. — 6 years ago

Mad legit, gorgeous nose, pure, nuanced spine with plenty of juice and downright pinot yumminess. Crisp morello cherry, pomegranate, cranberries, blood orange, ferns, earth, Ceylon cinnamon, sandalwood, raspberry leaf, sweet herbs, ground volcanic rocks. Gorgeous floral backdrop to the wine. Structurally its nuanced, plenty of definition and focus with this juicy mid-palate, nice length and silky tannins, bright acid drives the wine. Stoked on this 🔥 — 7 years ago

Tons of complexity and character without any bitter bite or over assertive ripe fruit. 2 plants to make one bottle of this world class riserva. May be leather and faint roses on the nose. Light in color. Quite a bit of tannins left but I would say drink now. Morello cherries which faded the next day replaced by lavender some might say violets. I buy this producer every year. — 10 years ago

2013 vintage. A rare grape indigenous to Lazio. The wine is a dark ruby color with promising red fruit, juniper, and forest floor aromas. On the palate it’s medium-bodied and fresh with a very smooth texture, and a subtle savory character. It shows distinctive Morello cherry, red mulberry, hints of red currant, black olive and vanilla flavors with an earthy undertone. Reminds me of a cross between Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc — 10 years ago

From the Antinori vineyard in Atlas Peak. Brilliant transparent ruby red. A bit closed at first, but after 10 minutes develops intriguing perfumes of morello cherries, violets and rose petals. Juicy cherry fruit with mouth-watering acidity,minerality and a subtle spiciness. Beautiful retronasal fruit and violets .Very elegant and well-balanced. Lovely.The 14,8% alcohol doesn't show at all. Day 1: Captivating nose, wet earth, savory cooking spices, a spice bazaar. Crazy nose. Chestnut as well. Library. So old school smelling but still clean. Very fresh. Elegant and lifting aromas. After a bit red florals start to develop. Initially palate is tannic and elegant. Very spicey, very fine pearly tannins. Big, but well structured and so elegant and fine. I am amazed how elegant and big this wine is. The fruit starts to come out and is detailed and impressive. Amazing fruit after a while. All deep morello cherries. Really impressive stuff. Such power and finesse.

Day 2: Nose is insane today. A spice bazaar, cherry, black cherry fruits, mint with the fruit much more prominent in the nose today. Big, dense and intense but with great purity and freshness but clearly could use 4-8 years in the cellar to mellow out. Silky fruit of wonderful vividness. Long lingering and nicely mineral finish with shades of different cherries.

World Class! Nose: Tart blackberries. rosemary, cardamom? black currant. I would spend at least 3 minutes to figure out the nose! Taste: Tart Black Forest wild morello cherries, leather belt, Black Forest tyme yes there is a thyme which grows in the meadows of the Black Forest. Color: light. Best Pinot made in Germany. If you have any ANY, ANY chance ever to get your hands on this wine get it. Usually highly allocated.
Imported by Lyle Fass or Stephen Bitterolf (vom Boden) often only one keg made. 300 bottles.
Can run with burgundies at 120$ any day tasted side by side with 2013 Mark Haisma Morey St. Denis.
