The 2014 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is positively stunning. There are many things about this wine that are super-impressive, but what stands out most is how soft and silky the tannins are. Because of that, the 2014 is much more approachable than it usually is, and yet also conveys the feeling of translucence that is such a signature of this site and wine. I am not sure I have ever tasted a young Bricco delle Viole with this much purity of fruit. The 2014 is total class. Don't miss it. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2018) — 7 years ago

People must be out of their minds to give this Pinot an overall rating of 8.8. This is one of the most profound domestic pinots I've ever tasted. Blackberry and strawberry fruit but no tartness. Birchwood and a touch of smoke. In a PRIME drinking window. If you have this, don't miss this window! — 8 years ago
One the nose, ruby, ripe wild dark berries, black plum, black tea, dark, rich, moist, soil, baking spices, dark chocolate and fresh & dry dark florals. The mouthfeel is big and lush (Parker wine). The tannins are round and beautiful. Wild blackberries, black plum, plum, dark liqueured cherries, black raspberries, dark chocolate, mocha powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, dark rich black soils, stones, soft leather, dry stems, crushed dry rocks and a touch of black licorice. Finishes nice young. Big lush fruits, 50-50 fruit and earth. Acidity is nice and round. Nice wine for those that love big fruity wines. But personally, I miss the pre 2012 style of Caymus wines. Damn well made Napa cab dominated wine
full bodied blend cab dominated but taste the softness of the merlot and the tanginess of the PV blend - for me it is sweet almost but elegance with a very dense purple zing from blackberry fruit intermixed with licorice and lime soil - the texture is nice loamy forest floor but not all earthy and a gritty layered mouthfeel - love the length
God I miss a brilliantly made cab from Napa
@Eric LaMasters @Carl Fischer your thoughts as you tasted the same tonight — 6 years ago

Color of beautiful of ruby, clear with grapefruit note on the rim. Nose is plenty with dried strawberries, aldehyde, oak, leather, spice, feels like high quality armarone or CduRh. Taste follows the nose with right amount of tannins, acidity, peppery, yet a bit too much bittersweet. Aftertaste of some more oak, juicy grapes, lingering flavors. Just slightly off balanced to miss even higher ranking. — 7 years ago
Nice blend. Much more straight tasting than their Islay cousins. I miss the peat and smoke flavor. — 7 years ago
OK. I have a six pack of this which has the disgorgement date of my only child’s birthdate. So, so cool right? I’d planned to keep these for a while, but after tasting someone else’s bottle a few months ago which was brought through the US importer, Rare Wine Co, which showed very, surprisingly advanced, I thought to begin my kid’s birthDAY 6-pack early, so we didn’t miss the magic of this wine just in case. Wow, best Initial I’ve ever had and not at all advanced. Fresh, very long and textbook initial in every way. Glad to have checked in since this will@last many years and ill slow down on popping their corks. Will be a great wine for my son for many, 5 to be exact, birthdays to come. — 7 years ago
Enjoyed our last full day at the resort, and we topped it off with another visit to Seven Glaciers. The food, the wine, the views...stellar!
What a treat to get to enjoy some of this! I believe this was a 99 pointer. Still drinking so beautifully. Tannins are well integrated and there are no hard edges here. Deep ruby in color, with sage, dried cranberry, blackberry pie. If you have any of this, don't miss this drinking window! — 8 years ago

Got the attendant to save my palate and grab me a glass of 09 Dom out of 1st Class.
The Emirates experience is very good overall. The car service pick up is excellent. The comfort in Business Class is quite spacious and comfortable. Service is good. The food was hit or miss depending on what you ordered. Overall, it could be better. Where they really missed; there were no hot towels before meals, wi-fi horrific and the Business Class wine list needs to be much better.
Green apple, slightly bruised Bosc pear, lime candy, light color citrus blend, pineapple, ginger soda, baguette crust, beautiful firm pronounced chalkiness, penetrating grey volcanic minerals, well done acidity and an elegant, rich, well balanced finish that goes on & on. — 7 years ago

It’s been a few weeks and I sure did miss starting the night with my baby 375ml. Ahhhh! Several notes previously and all would still apply!
Cheers and best wishes to the people affected by the CA fires. As well, to all the fire fighters.
The smoke is in the town I live in and that’s pretty far from where they started. I hate to think what it’s like there!!! — 7 years ago

Weston hosted Friday group today and was it definitely a can’t miss tasting. Wow! Absolutely knocked it out of the park with heavy hitter after heavy hitter. Similar to Wednesday group, all wines are tasted blind.
Wow. Just an absolute stunner of a wine. I’ll be honest...to those of you who enjoyed this wine upon release 1-2 years ago, I don’t know how you did it. This sucker is wound up and will stay that way for a while. Sheer To-Kalon power. The fruit is so pure, dark and building. Blue fruit, black fruits, plum, graphite, currant. This was actually my least favorite of the 5 at first taste and slowly but surely overtook almost every wine. I NEED one of these! — 8 years ago

While the first sniff and sip were a bit overpowering, just a few minutes in the glass opened this wine up beautifully. Silky black and red fruits with a solid backbone of earth make this a Super Tuscan you don't want to miss. — 9 years ago
