Wild & funky w exotic fruit (guava, papaya, mango), meadow herbs… with time the precision emerges.
On the palate still with a bit of funk but also amazing minerality and good definition. A naturalistic Riesling. A wild one. — 9 months ago
An old standard in our household. Velvety smooth, rich juicy berries. Glad we can purchase Freakshow even at Costco in TX and have a solid, boozy Cab at the ready. — 3 years ago

2006. 8yr old Zin from Lodi. This used to be a bruiser of a wine. Now it's quite balanced, nuanced, and at the end of its life. Very vegetal with green bean and English pea aromas, balsam, and tasting of an amalgam of stewed raisined cherry, black currant , oak, mushroom, and white pepper. 16.5%abv. — 10 years ago
Ruby color, slight purple edges, with aromas of red fruits, forest floor, floral and smoky spice, aged in 50% new French oak. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with cedar notes, tea, cola, black pepper, cinnamon spice and earthy herbs, very complex. Full-bodied, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and a spicy earthy character. Needs more bottle time, will age well! Pair this with a grilled salmon or maple glazed pork chop! — 8 months ago

Bottle compliments of Ken and CIG’s 30th; opened during Moxie’s soft opening at Alexandra House. Danny is drinking solo as he has been since June (counting the days until cleared to drink again) — and comments include, “it gets better the colder it is; I like French and New Zealand SB more; it doesn’t have the acidity we are used to...” Most importantly, tonight we toast to Josie as we wrap our head around what 22 August will forever mean to us. We have one other bottle; will confirm rating when we both can share the bottle. — 3 years ago
Great, focused Spätburgunder rosé from the Nahe. Another solid effort from Schäfer-Frölich. Appears there's barely any skin contact; pours a very pale, bright, almost silver-y copper color. Lean 'n' mean. A bit reductive at first; splash it into a decanter a bit before serving and it'll help it blow off though. On the nose, a pile of wet, crushed stone, cranberries, slightly underripe watermelon, a slight herbaceousness and a bit of lager-y lees character. The palate is pretty congruent in term of flavor to the aromatic character, with bright, high acid and just a touch of RS to help round it off and add a little extra oomph to the fruit character. Light, lean body. Incredibly food-friendly wine. Nice companion in this 95 degree heat. — 7 years ago

Dynamite stuff. 2006 is very good in the Nahe. Herbal nose, white cherries, apricots, super mineral, very clean. Palate is rich but super precise with lovely tangy apricot, grapefruit and Rainer cherry. Fresh and energetic with an icing like texture. Long, clean and super pure. Wonderful depth. — 5 years ago
2007 Peter Michael Point Rouge Chardonnay. HB w MnD and J&D B. We loved this wine wine so much at the Heart concert and we loved it tonight. Floral, along with notes of buttery brioche and oak. However, somewhat surprisingly, as we drank this in comp to the 2013 Ridge Monte Bello Chardonnay, it did not win out. Still such a great wine that we really, really enjoyed. — 8 years ago
One of my favorite mid priced Cabs. Excellent balance and lots of flavor!
