Les Combes Cornas Syrah 2017

Very nice cold Climate Syrah. Haisma is making this now for many years. Fleshy reminded me of bubblegum candy balls. Orange 🍊 rind. I really did not could come up with specific fruit notes. However if you like northern climate Syrah this @ 13.5% is excellent. It sold out within 90 minutes at the tasting. Needs time. — 6 years ago

My first time trying this wine. A honeyed nose conveys a sense of sweetness. The wine is not sweet, but it does have a certain sappy mouth coating quality. Need to taste again — 7 years ago

Lachini Black Love Pinot Noir 2016

The Megan Anne Cellars ‘Black Love’ Pinot Noir is a barrel selection wine sourced from both the Lachini and Nysa Vineyards. The wine saw some extensive oak treatment (16 months 60% new French oak) prior to bottling. There are lighter oaky tones on the nose that connect with dark fruits and tobacco leaf with damp earth. The palate shows good weight and freshness with black tea, blood orange, peat moss and cherry vanilla flavors. I really love the range here. While this is drinking marvelously now, the wine will cellar well for a decade or more. Drink 2018-2030- 93 — 7 years ago

Les Chaffots Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

I have been following this wine for years! This is the best wine Mark Haisma makes. This is so rich in flavor it blows your mind. Ok back to the basics. Almost no nose slight dark cherry. Very brought shouldered big wine masculine. Blackberry mulberry sage cappuccino? This is a pricy bugger!
120$ Still I would buy it and put some bottles away.

2012. This wine is crazy ambitious. It hits the mark in some ways: (oak usage, noble reduction, pristinely ripe fruit) but misses it in others (soft acid, diacetyl, and just a general chubby feeling). I get that they're trying to make an American Montrachet, and it certainly tastes expensive, but I just don't think California's going to let them do it. I just don't think you can get enough phenolic ripeness while maintaining acid and alcohol in this part of California. I fully respect the effort and thrust of the wine, but I can think of a few other ways I'd rather spend my money. Would be really interested to try it in a really cool vintage like '11 or '98. — 11 years ago

What about the Hyde de Villaine chards? I thought the 01 and 02 had ripping acidity but I don't have context to compare to Montrachet.
