Hints of mint on the nose. Clean slate, wet pebbles, dry citrus. Very nice for when austerity is in order, no excessive flowers or fruit juice here. Proper. — 8 years ago
18-. 1999. Still youthful, lovely Pinot nose, great mouthfeel and depth, balanced, long. But the previous bottle of the same wine, last night , was corked. And so it goes... — 8 years ago
Nice peppery kick without any jammy sweetness. Great deal for the quality. — 9 years ago
And on the 3rd day it showed the best — 10 years ago
A delicious wine that should show even more in the next few years. With notes of kirsch and black currant, this soft, but complex wine is delicious. It has slight herbaceous undertones that round out the fruit forwardness. Probably one of the better Chat. Du Papes from this vintage. — 10 years ago

Ripe berries, blue- and strawberries with tannins to supply a lattice for the seductive flavours. Elegant acidity. — 9 years ago

This is a silkier, more elegant vintage of the Chapelle, at least relative to the 2010, which was really in my zone, as well as the 2009, which I found over-the-top, but in both cases I think there was more stuffing there than here. This would've shown better if I'd opened it with white meat or even fish or something else where a lightweight presence and loose-knit structure is called for. It's an excellent wine in that idiom but lacks some of the solidity and grip it has offered in other years. It's not imbalanced at all, and the trademark stony mineral flavors are still here, it's just a slimmer version of its usual self. — 10 years ago
