Totally Italian. Approachable yet pronounced tannins that smooth off with air. Lovely earth and fruit aromatics. Carmignano is my jam. — 10 years ago

Surprisingly smooth structure starts off, blending the grape varietals well to a smooth elegant finish. With spicy southern Italian fare this wine holds up strong. 2011 vintage. — 11 years ago

2001, Madonna delle Grazie Il Marroneto Sangiovese. A Brunello with 14 years of aging, doesn't get much better. Still has primary black fruit but layers of secondary flavors. It continues to open up and get more complex through the evening. — 11 years ago

Really gorgeous 2001 vintage. All elements fully integrated. Cherry and red currant fruit, allspice, medium tannins, tobacco. Paired with grilled pork, Romano cheese, and parsely sausage. — 11 years ago
