1990: Coutet 'Cuvee Madame', a truly rare treat. Every sip was exciting. Absolutely perfect balance. Not as powerful as the '88 Cuvee Madame, yet made up for that with exceptional grace. Wow! — 10 years ago

Cuvée de la Pompadour is 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay, named for Madame de la Pompadour, Louis XV's great paramour, and she introduced sparkling wine to the court at Versailles, famous for having said, "Champagne is the only wine that a woman can drink and remain beautiful." Salmon color with aromas of red fruits and spices. On the palate fresh strawberry and raspberry flavors with cinnamon spice and toasty oak. Well balanced with acidity the wine finishes with citrus and honey notes on a long ending. — 9 years ago

Madame of the Chateau was there in the Joanne booth at VinExpo who was charming but this wine just shined even without her presence. Tasted more of Climens in Barsac. Elegant and just grabs your attention...super lengthy finish! — 12 years ago

house with which I'm not familiar, now a part of Croix de Beaucaillou. At any rate, quite attractively evolved. #saintjulien #Bordeaux — 9 years ago
Classic Bord Rouge, at a great price. I have this weird suspicion it has a lot in common with Ducru Beaucaillou...just a thought. — 10 years ago

Vintage 2010 - there are multiple reasons why I love #bourgueil let me explain. When I just discovered wine as a real passion - at the age of 18 - I adored the raspberry smell no other wine offered so generous. I like the name: Bourgueil is by far the most beautiful AOC name. My wife and I fell in love with the great dishes of Madame Debacker and the #Loire region on our honeymoon. This #cabernetfranc is deep black in the glass. It has character. Even at this age the wine shows a bit harshness, and an austerity that is found in Bordeaux often. But the raspberry and cherry smell reminds me of Cru de Beaujolais. It has also flint and mineral expression in smell, hints of leather, tobacco, clove. On the tongue it has a velvety structure. Bourgueil can be complex and frivolous at the same time. / Partnered it with Bavette from bbq and cauliflower mousse. — 8 years ago
