As soon as my nose went in the glass I was hit by an incredibly pleasant aroma that can only be attributed to a wine that has aged and matured well. Very fruit forward on the nose with a rustic yet subtle leather expression. On the palate, simply elegant. If you want to call it meaty, that's fine, but this French Syrah is incredibly smooth and wet, almost putting the "meatiness" in the background. Be careful, you could drink this whole bottle in a few minutes. It's that drinkable.

Reticent on both nose and palate for 1st hour. Both unfurl with air. Meat, black fruit, floral on nose. Expands in glass. Palate fills out: nice whack of salty earth, iron, meat, black cherry. Buoyed by ripe tannins and sneaky acidity. No hurry here, but a very satisfying 2006. Re-buy, enthusiastically. — 11 years ago
