Thanks for the review @Steve Anderson I was curious. Sounds like an early drinker.

Bella Oaks Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

This 03 is like candy. It has all the blue fruits imaginable, plums, blackberries, black raspberries and black cherries. They swirl over your palate. There's soft sweet spice, black cherry/berry cola, liquid violets, crushed volcanic minerals that are so delicate and delicious it's hard to call them minerals, rich semi-sweet black earth, sweetened black tea, leather as if it were dessert & dry stems. The acidity is amazingly perfect. Tannins are very resolved...like light dust. The structure, length, balance & light tension are in perfect harmony. The finish is; ripe, round, lush, elegant & sings on the palate nor does it end. The only knock you could give this wine is that for some it might be a little too sweet. Another five years plus in the bottle, it's sweetness will soften enough for those who might say that. I'll be getting a few more of these at $60 and trying it again in five years. This 03 reminds me of an 82 Bella Oaks I had out of magnum a few years ago and that was stunning. This just hasn't had that kind of time in the bottle yet. — 8 years ago

Big Sky Cuvée Merlot Blend 2013

An always impressive effort, this Bordeaux style blend never disappoints. This vintage is par for the course- a big wine, with thick chewy tannins and rich mocha cherry flavors. The lingering finish is lice aniseed pop rocks on the tongue. — 8 years ago

We can throw around the idea of a classical wine or producer, but there are precious few that are true classics. This is one. If lightly peppered red berries were made of liquid silk, that would be almost as smooth as the palate of this. Aromatically, this is a fresh summer bouquet of florals & herbs. Just a stunner & showstopper. Will go a bit longer, but in an excellent place to enjoy right now. @Matthew Bigby you are a gentleman & a scholar for sharing this. — 9 years ago

This vineyard is amongst the steepest I've walked. Also, has some of the hardest soil one will see but it produces amazing wines. Rene and his son Pierre produce some of the best wines in Rhone. Interesting enough, 100% of his production goes to the US. Lucky us!!!

@David Trumper Hello David. Interesting fact. Are you sure it is 100% though? Because one of the local importers sells this wine too (and I am from Russia). Well, guess you are no less lucky even if you get 99% though ;)

That is what I was told. However, there is no way to know what an importer or reseller might choice to do with his wine once it lands in the U.S..
