Holy moly, where did this one come from!? This had the nose of full throttle drunken elderberries and freshly baked blackberry pie with pepper and spice and everything nice! This tastes like whole cluster Grenache If there really is such a thing. Black and blue, pepper and spice, black cherry cola, mouth coating, inky. Dissecting out all of the notes that were swirling around, it would take me probably an hour, and everyone would be bored and probably stop reading. This was massive. And has probably a couple of decades left! — 6 years ago
So smooth but full bodied — 7 years ago
Solid. Complex flavor. Not too sweet. Good afternoon (or morning) refreshment — 7 years ago
Was not full bodied enough, but for the price it was excellent — 8 years ago
Deep purple colors in the glass. Heavy cab with blueberry, vanilla, and tasting notes of earth. Very yummy cab and went perfectly with pot roast. — 6 years ago
Muy buen vino. — 6 years ago
Tart, but I think it will mellow in the fridge. — 6 years ago
A little on the sweeter side. — 7 years ago
Great for the price. Fun to have Petite Sirah once in a while. — 8 years ago
Easy drinking white — 5 years ago
A very reasonably priced bottle. Sadly half of it went to the dish I was cooking, but it was delicious with a slow-cooked pork in wine sauce. — 5 years ago

A surprisingly great red - as others have said. A very drinkable wine, but of smokiness to it, bold and quite red fruity. — 8 years ago
Fruity smooth — 8 years ago

Okay, my natural bias on this wine is that it is generally over rated and over priced. Having said that, this vintage is very good. Reviews should be agnostic to price so I will do my best. This has an over abundance of black fruits jumping out of the glass. But it has enough acid to balance the fruit on the front and mid palette. The finish is shorter than you would like but overall balance between fruit, acid and tannins is very good. The bottom line is, if you asked me if I wanted you to open a ‘12 Caymus, I would say hell yes. Cheers! — 4 years ago
