this basic wine from denavolo left me quite emotional. worked as a time machine back to early spring time in childhood, the smell of open soil, broken limb wood and first grass. hints of citrus, rocks, floral and vegetal.
mash fermented and left on the grapes for about two months - the tannin structure sorta hides.
cuvée of malvasia di candia aromatica, ortrugo. — 9 years ago
Matt Courtney Chardonnay. Big, buttery, oakey. Great texture; beautiful mouthfeel. Closest thing to Marcassin you'll find. I'll go out on a limb here and say its better than Aubert. I'd like to taste next to Ferren, but I have none as they don't ship to to the Land Of Lincoln (Really?). I also am aware that this style is frowned upon by the minerality, un-oaked crowd, but I'm not a fan of that style. Grab some @Dag Zapatero @Bill Bender let me know what you think. — 9 years ago
Old world style Cab that is probably at it's best. Dark purple with some orange in the limb. Nice legs. Classic Cab nose with hint of earthy funk. Very goof balanced of rich flavors with just the right amount of tannins. Fairly high alcohol. Long finish of leather. — 9 years ago
Okay, out on a limb here but this wine makes top 20 of memory here. That's saying something given that I'm living in France, for god's sake. Drink it chilled down about 4° from room temp. Experience the wow. — 10 years ago
Going to go out on a limb and call Beurer the best Riesling value around. Dry, citrus fruit, pronounced acidity, great mineral structure that dominates. Old vines, meticulously tended to with biodynamic methods. Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeast, 14 months sur lie. Not necessarily a crowd pleaser, there is a slightly bitter undertone that I find enjoyable, but others might not. I'm in love, this does my hometown proud. — 10 years ago
Orange limb. Fresh red fruit nose. Wild ripe mixed red fruit juicy mouthfull — 8 years ago
Possibly one of the best beers ever made — 8 years ago
Ill go out on a limb and say this bottle was a little meh. Not corked but sub prime. Weve had this vintage a few times this year and i remember it a little stinkier, this one was almost flabby. — 9 years ago
Do you trust the sommelier?? If you've been following me, you probably know by now I'm more of a Cali girl when it comes to cab. Eric the Somm from BF (who knows his juice!) suggested this one. It was expensive so I was hesitant to go out on a limb here and make a costly mistake. Luckily he reassured us - offering to take it back if we didn't like it (visualizing him drinking it out back?! Haha) not that I'd ever take someone up on that gesture but it established trust and got us over the hump - and it was all worth it! (And we subsequently trusted him with the pick the next night too!) — 9 years ago
Out on a limb here. This reminded me of northern Rhone with the meatiness barbecue on offer backed by just the slightest undertones of that classic cherry burgundy character. Of interest, to say the least, not sure if it's necessarily my bag when I reach for Bourgogne but still reaching far beyond simple expression or easy drinking. 🍔🍕🍖 — 10 years ago
Black licorice and sap and definitely not discreet about anything. For going out on a limb this was a hell of a good surprise. Hot vintage is obvious but the wine is excellent and FORTUNATELY not typical for the locale. Masculine woman and sexy as all hell. Strong and wet. In a good way. A really good way. 💘 — 10 years ago
I'm going to go out on limb and say that for most people PF flies under the radar. It should not! This is a quality 03 Cabernet for the $. In fact, a steal if you buy it right and early. Perfectly ripe black cassis, raspberry, an array of baking spices, graphite, touch of black pepper, black licorice, black olive and dusty tannins. Soft with a finish that's goes on and on. Drink now and for another 5-10 years. The tannins and acidity say it will easily make it another 10 years in proper storage. — 10 years ago
We visited small winery with jaw dropping views of the Douro and bought this wine on a limb. Great decision — 8 years ago
Hobestly maybe the best red Temecula has ever produced. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Bailey is the only Temecula winery worth visiting and a library tasting is a must. Big fruit and tannins well integrated. Dark red dominates with a cherry sweetness. — 8 years ago
Mature refined smooth wine. Floral, but tempered with some spice. Very complex and well rounded. Deep without being overbearing. A zin-lover going out on a limb. — 9 years ago
Not like your normal Napa Cab. Ready to drink at this vintage. A lot of earth in this bottle, tannins very well balanced, developed and rounded out. One of the smoothest bottles I have experienced. Hits of tobacco, tar and cherries. I encourage anyone who wants to go out on a limb and try a Napa Cab that is very different than I have ever experienced a NC to be, give this a try. Extremely different and exceptional. If I can find this vintage again, will buy as much as possible. — 9 years ago
ladies and gentlemen, this is a pinot vintage! one of my highlights at the "naturwein"-fair in november; kudos to claus and mike.
super balance, smoke, dark rubber, limb wood etc.
all this in super slim 11.5% alcohol!

I've had this before, I'll probably have it again. Maybe it's context (it always is) but I liked this way more this round. I'm going out on a limb here and calling "huckleberry" but honestly what is a huckleberry do I even know? I'll eat one today and report back. — 8 years ago
